Which is MOST important to you choosing a Resort? Space or Closest to Theme Parks?

Please help me decide which Resort. We are going to Disney in October.

It will be:

Me, DH, DS (Age 3) DD (Age 14)
SIL and her 2 kids (Ages 1 and 6)

I can get a 2 bedroom Villa at Old Key West closer to Magic Kingdom

OR

a 3 Bedroom Grand Villa at Cypress Point Resort just outside the gates of Disney with 2 Masterbaths and 2 kitchens and a small living room (it's a lockout 1 bedroom suite connected with the 2 bedroom suite).

I can't decide. I would LOVE to get Old Key West because if DS gets cranky I can get back to OKW quicker than Cypress Point.

BUT, I am VERY moody in the evenings and *I* need quiet and space away from everyone when I get like this. In the Grand Villa, I can go in my private suite and recharge quietly and alone so that I won't upset the rest of the family's vacation. Plus, DS takes after me and needs quiet time.

I can't see me and DS having quiet time at OKW in the 2 bedroom Villa.

We are only going for the weekend (Friday-Sunday) so I shouldn't be stressing out THIS much! But, I just can't decide. Please help!

I guess this all depends on you. I would go for SPACE but that's me. I am amazed at how many people some families smash into hotel rooms, I frankly need a suite for just me and my son!

It looks like you're going with two families and 4 age groups(baby, toddler, teen and 3 adults). I would go for the space just to keep everyone sane. :teeth:

For me it would be about deciding if staying on-property had any extra value over Cypress Pointe. It's not that much farther than OKW, just a few blocks to the left of Crossroads at Hotel Blvd. Would the Disney transportation make it easier with your son? Were you thinking of the Dining Plan? Would you be renting points from an owner or staying through CRO on cash? For two nights, I think Cypress Pointe would be a lot cheaper and give you the space you need.

If you are flying or will only have 1 car, OKW would be better. Some people could stay in the parks while the rest of you use the bus system to go back to the room. CPGV has no transport to the parks, which would mean you need to travel in a pack if you only have 1 car.

For two nights I wouldn't mind squeezing into OKW if we are doing the parks commando style. For a longer stay, we need to spread out a bit.

You didn't mention price diff. I'd assume CP is half of OKW, even with renting points from an owner. If the price isn't an issue, I'd go with OKW.

There it is. My problem. I'm not "All Day Park" person. I can get there by 9am and be ready to leave by 1 or 2pm.

BUT, DD14 and SIL ARE "All Day Park" people. If *I* am ready to go and they are NOT, how do I handle this with 1 car?

Plus, I didn't know you had to take a Tram to get to Magic Kingdom. So, if I want to leave Magic Kingdom, I've got to take get on the Monorail to take me to TTC and catch a Tram from there to take me to my car? :confused3

It could take me 1 1/2 to get back CPGV? Or less with OKW?

yes it could take 90 minutes - as you say - you can take the monrail (or ferry) then you take the tram to your car....

with OKW you get on the bus at the MK entrance no monrail or ferry necessary.

OKW has pretty big 2-bedroom - it is 1395 sq ft.

Cypress Pointe 3-bedroom looks like it will be 1649 sq ft.

however I can definitely understand the alone time.... I need that myself. I get my brother and his family a 2-bedroom and I get myself a studio....

OKW has WDW transportation. So the buses run pretty regularly - you shouldn't have to wait more than 20 minutes (except during lunch time then it can be 45 minutes).

I am doing a 3-bedroom at Cypress Pointe this Dec....

I could see this being a problem with 1 car. We split up frequently and this is why we love being onsite.

If they are still at the parks, then you would essentially have alone time in the room. You can then always easily meet back up with them later for evening parades and shows.

Good luck with your decision!
