Going to be renting wheelchair for MIL this trip. What is closer to the entrance/exit at Disneyland - the trams to the parking garages or Uber pickup? Trying to decide if we should drive or Uber. Thank you!

Can she get in and out of the wheelchair? Have you considered renting an ECV?

I think Uber would be easier. With the trams you need to wait with the masses and only certain sections of the tram can accommodate wheelchairs.

Agree with LKing - the rideshare option would likely be the better option here and the drop-off / pick-up may be closer than the tram / parking garage drop off option.

Just curious: are most Lyft/Uber drivers prepared to help with a wheelchair, or does one specify that in the ride order to make sure you get a driver who is? Or do they rely on the wheelchair user's able-bodied companion to deal with getting the wheelchair in and out of the trunk?

I am not 100% sure where the uber drop off location is, but I think it would be closer to wheelchair rental location. For the garage, there is no guarentee where you will be parked and it could be a lot of walking from the car to security to the tram. And then when you are off the tram, you basically go all the way across the esplanade to the wheelchair rental. At that point though, you could always leave her on the first bench you see and go over to rent the chair and then go pick her up off the bench with the wheelchair. Not sure how mobile she is overall.

I have used Uber with both my parents with a manual wheelchair. I usually will be ready to go and wheel the parent to the door of the car to help them in and then fold the wheelchair. I am used to putting the wheelchair in the trunk, but just about every driver has come to help me put it in the trunk. Or at a Disney resort, Bell Services is also all over helping to get it in (or out of) the trunk for me. As I said though, I am used to it from my own car, so I can do it myself. I used to also help my aunt some with uber to put her rollator in a car, but again, no driver ever gave us an issue with helping to put it in the trunk.

Yes, she's mobile, just tires out easily. Thanks for the uber rec!

Edited to add - no, neither one of us would be comfortable with her in an ECV (and if you're at DL that day, you'd thank me!) :)

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions!

I should have also added that we're renting the wheelchair at DL, so don't have to worry about getting it into an Uber.
