Which is best? Military discounts?

We are thinking of a 2 day stop jan 3-5. My brother may be joining this year so that would take us to 3 adults and 2 kids. If he does come, is it cheaper to get a military discount ( he is in the military). I have been seeing great park ticket prices. Would we be able to add them to the room and dining if there is a special in Jan? Or would we book room only and not get dining plan?


Or for such a short stay are we better just booking to Disney and not using any military discounts?

I think the current military discounts expire in Sept. They haven't released any new promotions yet. In the past, I've been able to get the military 40% room discount, use military discounted tickets, but had to pay full price for the dining plan. As to which is the better discount, it all depends on your family. All but 2 of my kids are considered adults, we need 2 rooms that sleep at least 5 (teen boys can't share with the girls, plus grandma usually comes with us, at least 8 of us usually go). For us, it's cheaper to use the room and ticket discounts and pay for the DDP or out of pocket for food. If you're able to stay at a value or moderate, and your kids are still considered kids, it may be cheaper for you to use free dining.

As of right now Disney has not announced any military discounts for next year. The current one expires in September but don't forget to check out Shades of Green. You don't have to be staying there to get the military discounts on park tickets. Sometimes it cheaper to stay at a value resort then Shades. Then you can just buy the dining plan. It would be like an ala cart menu.
