We are going in May for 8 days, and we need two rooms. I really want to stay at Coronado Springs, but if no codes show up, we can't afford it. Should I book 2 value rooms right now to cover me, and cross my fingers codes will show up for moderates? Or, should I book the moderate at the rack rate and change it to the discounted rate if they show up? My fear is that they won't show up, and I'll cancel the moderate standard rate, and the value resorts (even at standard rates) might all be booked up then.

Or, book them both now at standard rates and just cancel whichever one I don't use?

I would book what you can afford w/o discounts. I am going through the same thing now trying to plan a trip for December. Book the value and if the codes come out, switch to the mod. then you are covered if there are no codes. There are only a certain number of discounted rooms available with a code so, even if you have a ressie at a mod., if you don't call quick enough, you wouldn't get the code anyways. Having a ressie at a mod. if you aren't going to stay there w/o a code really has no advantage in your situation.

If you know you can't afford the moderate without a code, I'd advice you to not over extend yourself. Book the two rooms at the value resort. When and if a code comes out for the moderate you can change........I'm sure there would be rooms available in May.

My brother and his family went in May '03. They were reserved at a moderate resort. When the codes came out they were able to switch to a deluxe for a cheaper rate than the moderate. So, it can happen for you. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks! Now that I've got that decision figured out for now, which resort would I have a better shot at getting connecting rooms? I know that Pop Century supposedly has more connecting rooms than the other value resorts. I also know that connecting rooms are possible at Coronado Springs, but I'm wondering if I stand a better chance of getting what I want (room-wise) at Pop Century. I don't think Disney would consider it high priority, as it is four adults and two kids. But it's pretty high up there for us, as I don't want to here the arguments every night about wanting to go sleep with Grandma.
