We've been to USF, but not IOA. I know about the big rides, but which rides would be ok for a 5 year old(she's scared rather easily, but loves Goofy's Barnstormer) and which would be ok for a 2 year old.
Here are a few in particular that I'm not sure about:

Spiderman: I know DD2 can't ride, but what about DD5. I've seen some people recommend it for 8 and up and others say it's not scary at all.

Flying Unicorn: Is this any more intense than barnstormer?

Suess Landing: It looks like they can both do everything here. Is that correct?

Popeye and Bluto's: I'm not sure, but I think DD5 may be tall enough. Do you think it's too scary for her?

Thanks.

i agree with most of these. everything in seuss landing is ok. spiderman i would say would be ok. the flying unicorn and popeye and bluto are probably fine too. none of these are "scary" rides, its just that some of them are louder, like spiderman. popeye and bluto isnt scary at all, or at least my kids didnt think so

My DS was 5 when we went last and he rode Spiderman and LOVED it. (And he doesn't like to be scared!) Have fun. It looks like we will be there the same week! :)

Spiderman could be really frightening with its loud noises, simulated drop and bad guys coming at you all the time, but you can always just cover your five year old's eyes if she seems upset. Flying Unicorn is a great small coaster, but it's a little wilder than the Barnstormer IMO and the one little lap bar makes me nervous ... ride with her on that one. Bluto has a really stiff height requirement -- I have no idea why because it's not scary or fast -- so make sure she is tall enough before you talk it up with her. Also make sure you're suitably dressed because you will get drenched. Everything in Seuss Landing should be fine. Cat in the Hat can bounce around a bit; the first time my DD rode when she was two she was a little spooked but she got back on it and rode again. I would start out the little one on the carousel, which is really cool, and if she is fine with that move up to One Fish Two Fish and then Cat in the Hat. The If I Ran the Zoo play area is also very nice, although small, and they will get wet in it.

One thing I'll say is that Spiderman may or may not be too intense for her...but don't do it first! Work your way up to it! If you can, I'd run to the back of the park and do Pteranadon Flyers...unless she or they are afraid of heights...not sur what the minimum is on it...but it's a cool little ride that usually has long lines and is geared toward younger kids...

They will probably enjoy playing around in the Jurassic park play areas...there is one inside at Burger Digs and one outside (which is where Pteranadon Flyers is) There are a few fountains to play in and a boat in Toon Lagoon for them to have fun on as well. Your 5 Y/O may enjoy Storm force if she likes to spin...it's like the tea cups, basically.

Have Fun!

Me Ship the Olive and Camp Jurassic will occupy them for at least a couple of hours. the Discovery Center in JP is a great diversion as well.

My 5 year old DD can scare easily and has some sensory issues. She hated Spiderman. My 4 year old DS loved it. She is also a big fan of Goofy's Barnstormer, but she loved loved LOVED the Unicorn rollercoaster. She said it was better. I think the ride she enjoyed most was the Jurassic Park Dinosaur Ride. If you DD doesn't mind getting really wet then she might like the Blutos barges. My dd cried. It was really cold out and was near dark and she begged to go. She said she would go again however if it was sunny and warm outside. What a trooper.

Just a reply to the posts about Spiderman(it actually applies to Dinosaur in you know where as well). My daughter who was 4 the last time we went to Universal/IOA really, really want to go on everything she possibly could and we found what works best for us is stay in the back seat. So her view was obstructed a little bit. That totally worked for her. So she could get the motion of the ride but she couldn't quite see everything. This worked as well for Back to the Future.

As for the Flying Unicorn and the Woody Woodpecker roller coaster they are way better than the Barnstormer at DW. It is really more of a mini-rollercoaster than that at Disney World.

I, in my opinion think spider-man might be a little scary for both. There is one part where a villain puts an electric plug in the car and the car starts shaking around.. As for the flying unicorn, I don't thing it would be that scary for either. It's an outdoor rollercoaster and is maybe 10% more wilder then barnstormer. Suess Landing would be quite fun for both. Oh, and If your 5-year-old has been on splash mountain, and liked it, Popeye and Bluto will be a piece of cake for them. When I was going up for the main drop, It looked biger then splash mountain, but it was only a mere 10 foot drop! That part got me on that ride. Hope you have a fun time at IOA.

Thanks for all the opinions.
After doing more research and realizing how much there is to do at IOA for the little ones and the older ones(we'll also be with a 14, 11, and 8 yr old), we've decided to change our schedule around a little and spend 2 days there.

The last time we were at WDW/US/IoA, DD was only 3. She loved  all the "lollercoasters" and insisted we went straight back on Flying Unicorn after her first ride on it! :teeth: I had a break while she went on Woody Woodpecker's with her dad and we all did the Barnstormer in MK.

DD wasn't tall enough for Spiderman then (and was too little to realise what the older kids in our party were on about! ;) ) but she was thrilled to meet Spidey :charac4: and posed for her picture which was very cute!

This year, she'll be 5 and will definately be going on Spiderman this time around - she also thinks that she'll get on Hulk, too - but she is still way too little for this one! :rotfl2:
