we are going to Universal on Martin Luther King weekend. Will be at Universal itself on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th. I'm assuming Friday, January 15 will be less busy day. Correct me if I'm wrong. so I am wondering which Harry Potter world to do that day? All help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Depends upon if you are staying at a Universal Lowe's Hotel, sound like your not. So the guests staying onsite get early access to one of the WWoHP areas. I would find out which one they get early access to and go to the other one first. Typically speaking Hogsmeade is smaller than Diagon Alley space wise so it looks more crowded even when it's not. Hogsmeade, looking at all the stores, riding all the rides and going to Olivanders I can get all through it all in 3 hours. Diagon Alley I can spend 6 hours, it has three times as many stores but only has one ride. The HE is not in Diagon Alley and is not part of the early access for onsite park guests, it has a longer wait from Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade, then Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley normally and you will want to ride it both ways as the ride is different in each direction.

You are correct in assuming that Friday will be less crowded at least at first, but if Diagon Alley has the early park access then it might be a bit more crowded at first.

That is an AWESOME resort. So if you are early risers then take advantage of the early park admission and you won't even have to worry about the which is less crowded when. You can hit everything early, it really was like we had the place to ourselves for an hour. We had early access to Diagon Alley and the wait in the morning for Gringotts was 5 minutes, we did the ride, then looked at the shops and 10 minutes before the park opened to the general public we jumped in the HE line and rode to Hogsmeade when we got there we still beat the people walking from the front gate and walked on HPFJ which was good, because my brother who is 6'8'' did not fit on that ride, so it was nice for me to ride with no wait while he perused the gift shop, I rode DD twice in 15 minutes, then grabbed breakfast at Three Broomsticks by 10 AM!!! The early admission is GOLDEN, and worth getting up at 6 AM (DA opened to us at 7AM, because of HHN).
Even if it is slightly more crowded you will still get everything in before Noon.

Because DA has been opened for a year the main rush has died down and while it certainly gets busy, it is not as busy as it was last year.

Where can you see the early access dates?

At this time there is no place to find out far in advance...You find out when you check into your hotel. Universal doesn't have it listed on the website yet, I am hoping that will change.
