We are planning a trip in Dec. 08 and waiting to spend a few days at Universal before heading over to Disney. Which hotel does anyone recommend with children age 4 and 6 at time of travel? Anything we should know about Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure? Are these parks geared more towards older children?

We had this dilema last time we went - kids 5 and 8 at the time. I think it depends on your kids. My youngest is VERY brave and wanted to do all the rides that the rest of us were planning! As she wasn't big enough at the time to get on the big rides, we decided not to do Universal and stuck to Disney and DC/Seaworld. That way she only missed out on Rockin' Rollercoaster and Kracken. We are going to Orlando in Oct and this time we're staying onsite at Universal for the first part of our hols and will do a bit of Disney plus Discovery Cove/Seaworld in the second week. We just wanted to make sure she could join in with as much as possible. Obviously if your kids are not bothered about big rides (or someone else in your group is happy to do take them off to do something else) then it makes no difference.

Are there just not alot of rides at for kids at Universal and IOA? I've read it is geared towards older people.

There is plenty to keep them occupied for a day or two.
