If you were staying off property for a 3 nights and can only spend $100-$150 a night around the first of the year, which hotel would you pick? I know it is close but my SIL and her daughter are trying to go at the last minute. We have always been spoiled and planned ahead to be able to stay on property. I have looked a little around here but there doesn't seem to be anything current about the hotels. I will research the availabilities but would like to start with good (safe & clean) hotels. then I can work on what they can afford.
Thank you in advance!

Disboard favorite off-site hotels within walking distance are:'

Howard Johnson Anaheim (especially with the $59 ent. rate)
Candy Cane Inn
Tropicana
Best Western Park Place Inn

we stayed at the candy cane inn two years ago. it was clean and nice and the walk was not that bad. we used the shuttle for when we were really tired at the end of the day.

FWIW, if anyone has or wants to have an AP, the Paradise Pier availability calendar on the AP website shows from the 4th through the 13th of January as being $139 a night (plus taxes plus resort fee and tax on that). 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are $179 plus etc etc.

HoJo is a fave, and even Anabella, if you can get a good rate (and especially if you can stay on the ground floor with the hardwood floors), is nice. It's a bit further away than Paradise Pier.

HOJO or Fairfield Inn. We've stayed at both and we would return to either.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Garden Grove. It was very nice, free breakfast, comfy bed, nice shower, free parking. We paid $99 a night. The ART stops there but we preferred to drive ourselves.

We are also looking into Embassy Suites South for this summer. The rates I'm getting for this June are around $150. I have not stayed at that on, but have stayed at other Embassy Suites a number of times and they are very nice and have an excellent free breakfast. I don't know how their Disney transportation is.

Howard Johnson. Even without the Ent rate, it's got a great pool and water play area for the kids, and the beds were incredibly comfy.

I stayed at the camelot inn last year and it was wonderful...we were right by the pool!

I would vote for the Fairfield Inn by Marriot. We have never been disappointed!

Please share! Is that the entertainment book? I just booked Hojos for next summer at 149-- I was hoping I could do better. Thanks for any advice!

Yeah...iced latte and (bleah) pumpkin muffin from DL's bakery, instead of my funny face and DS's cutie face. :) I keep reading my own posts b/c I forget they are mine, b/c I don't recognize my avatar yet!

entertainment.com... If you go to hojoanaheim.com and click discussion boards, you can find the post about the Entertainment Book discounts. They have an ongoing and updated-as-they-know list of the dates that they have the special anaheim hojo Entertainment Book discount. A normal room can be $59 (plus tax) on days when the *special* discount applies!

Even if you can't get that, disboard members get 15% off rack rate, and if you have an AP it's a 20% discount off rack rate.

You have to call the Anaheim hotel directly though, at their 714 number during pacific time business hours, and ask for "in house reservations", b/c if you get the 800 number people they won't know what you're talking about or at best give you the normal Entertainment Book discount of 10% off rack rates....

If you can get that rate, then you get an Entertainment Book from ANY area (does not have to be the Anaheim/Orange County area) that's good during your stay.
