We are going to DLR in May I received a pin # for 35% off, so we decided to stay on property this time. Which hotel do you prefer?

We have always stayed offsite, so this is completely new to me, as a matter of fact I don't think I have ever gone into either one of those hotels just to take a look.

There will be 4 of us, myself, dh, dd (21) and we are also bringing our friends dd (10).

TIA

Well the PP has bigger rooms and a pull out sofa sleeper. It is easy to cross over and through the GC. The swimming facilities are more fun at the DL hotel and you can catch the monorail. PP is beach themed and DL hotel is Disney themed. Both are good choices for different reasons. What is important that you would be looking for from the hotel?

I think if you are going to pay extra to stay on site, then you might as well stay at the Disneyland Hotel. PP is a nice hotel, but I am not really a fan of the beachy theme or the pool which is sort of lacking. The Disneyland Hotel is a classic, and with the new renovation of it--you just can't beat it for a full dose of disney magic. But I admit I am totally partial to the DLH, even over the Grand Californian--so my opinion is biased!

I think the PP is sort of far, too--I like the proximity of the DLH to downtown disney and Disneyland Park.

The DLH has the magic of being the original hotel, and has a fantastic collection of concept art, illustrations and photographs lining all the hallways. The pool is much better than the one at the PPH. I liked the old decor with the big armoires with the old map of Disneyland on them, but it would also be fun to stay in a newly renovated room. When I was planning a trip in July, I picked the DLH for the pool. For cooler month travels I've loved the PPH.
The PPH actually didn't feel any more distant from the park than the DLH, and it is super easy to cut through the GC from the PPH. I liked the beach theme, and there is Disney theming in the rooms. The theme park view rooms look right into California Adventure which is very fun.

Thanks for the link and all the info. As for what we look for in a hotel, more of the cleaniness than anything, we are a pretty easy going family so I don't let the little things get to us when we are on vacation. I was leaning towards DLH for the pool, and I do like the thought of the more Disney theme, and would love to see all the different art they have in the hallways.

Sounds like I just made my decision:rotfl: Now it's time to do some serious planning.

Thanks again for all your input.

Good gravy; that should be the answer for this question all the time! Love it!

I like PPH better. I'm too interested in getting to the parks to take time looking at art. We did see some, but only because we all had to use the restroom and the art was right there. However, we ended up impacting a convention group that was checking in with their people; we were all sort of in the same corridor.
