Can't really vote because I do most federal holidays (they end up being 4-day weekends for me)

We go during the summer vacation from school...and don't go during holiday weekends. Luckily, my employer is pretty generous with the vacation time. Mark me down as "none".

I voted for Columbus Day & Veterans Day.
We love to go to WDW in Oct./Nov.!!!

Just remember that although these are Federal holidays, some of us unfortunately do not get them off.

And this trend is growing in the private sector. Lots of places now only offer: NYD, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, T-Day and Christmas....if you're lucky you get the politically correct floating holiday(s) that the religiously faithful can use for their religious holidays but are otherwise just vacation days for the rest of us...much like having to work through lunch and extra hours, the work week seems to be creeping its way back to the 1800's. *sigh*. That being said, wifeypoo's new job with the school district gives her 15 paid holidays (she's year round).

Since our children go to kennel-camp when we go to Disney, school is not an issue for us. Other than VB over Christmas, we've avoided holidays for Disney trips...that may have to change for the next few years....wifeypoo only gets 2 weeks vacation per year so those 15 holidays may become important for our trips to the World.

Then again, maybe we should just move to Europe where they have a much more reasonable holiday/bank holiday philosophy.

My wife is a program aide at a childrens crisis/respite home which operates 24/365. They observe no holidays. She is given 24 days vacation a year though.
