Which floor should I requst at the Poly? We're asking for Tokelau.

Definitely go with the 1st or 3rd floor rooms. Most (not all) of the buildings at the Poly don't have balconies on the 2nd floors.

In many of the longhouses at the Poly, the second floor contains a false balcony. That is, there is a sliding glass door that opens, but no balcony, just the railing. All third floors at the Poly have balconies and all first floors have patios.

I prefer the third floor because it offers much more privacy an a guaranteed balcony. One charming thing about the first floor, however, is that ducks will often visit the patios in the morning, looking for handouts.

Great! Third floor it is! Thank you all so much! :worship:

Tokelau is one of the newer buildings, thus it has balconies on both the second and third floors.

I didn't know there was a false balcony on the second floor. I'm going to call and just ask for the 3rd floor instead of just a balcony.

They are real. I just looked at some photos over on Tikiman's site and reread his description of Tokelau.

So are the second floor balconies real or false?

It depends on the longhouse you are assigned to. Many of the longhouses have false balconies on the second floor, but others have full balconies on both the second and third floor.

We stayed in Tokelau in May 2007 on the first floor. There wasn't really any privacy issues, and we did have ducky visitors. We really like it. :) And yes, the second floor had real balconies. I don't think you need to worry with any room in Tokelau. :) Very nice building near the quiet pool, but away from the louder volcano pool. Still only a short walk from both pools, Cap'n Cooks and the GCH.

Agreeing that Tokelau has balconies on all floors. The original older buildings had the false balconies to look more like island architecture. I believe these longhouses don't have true balconies on any floor. When they expanded Poly they realized it was more important to have a balcony for guests. I have stayed in Tokelau and agree that it is in a good spot.

I just want to say to be careful about making too many requests. You may not get any. The last time we stayed at Poly (not a peak season time either) we requested Samoa, first floor facing pool and ended up in Rapa Nui and was told that there was absolutely nothing closer. We still had a good trip. Requests are just that and even though you hear so many people say they always get what they ask for it doesn't always happen.

You need to decide which single thing matters most to you--say building or balcony or whatever. I agree with Mr. Pig that if you ask for too many specifics, you are likely to be disappointed.

The older buildings have a balcony on the third floor and a patio on the first but no balcony on the second. Tokelau is one of the newer buildings, and it does have a real balcony on both the second and third floors, as well as a patio on the first, but if you ask for too many things from the reservations people, you risk being disappointed.

Hmmm...so are two requests too many?

Noone can tell how many request are too many. Some people request exact room numbers and get them. It just cuts down the odds a little. Building and balcony might not be too bad. Heck even a first request may not be honored if it is not available. Many here have tried to figure out what they must do to make requests happen for sure but in my opinion it is still a lot of guesswork. Reports from people that always get their request does not mean the next person will. You would have to go through thousands of statistics or have some inside info on Disney operations to really know. Even then it would probably vary according to the time of the year, time of day you check in and a lot of other random variables.

In my opinion asking for building is the easiest for Disney to grant. Adding balcony probably won't cut down the odds too bad because most of the rooms have one. I guess I just want to warn people that despite what you may read here you can't EXPECT anything. Don't be too disappointed if you don't get a request. Don't get mad and ask to see a supervisor if you don't get a request. Enjoy the stay and if you do get what you want consider it a bonus.

Don't worry--I'm sure we'll be happy in any building, on any floor. :)

I'm going to request Tokelau, with a balcony. And hopefully...I'll have some luck!

I would stay on ground floor. You can wake up to family of ducks (or rabbits) walking by and really stretch out on the patio.
