Which Fast Pass First?

Yes, Hydroguy, could you please keep us posted now that they're being a bit more strict on FP return times? What's a good FP strategy for the 2012 Holidays, and with Cars Land now being open? :teacher:

There is absolutely NOTHING that I've heard to suggest that "they are being a little more strict on FP return times" -- in fact, I think the opposite is likely true, with the main new FP attraction RSR breaking down often enough and the FP line getting really long at times, and then shorter at times, that they fully recognize that some folks might need to come back later to use an FP.

Perhaps there's some confusion with WDW (in Florida) starting to ENFORCE FP return times? DLR does not enforce FP times.

Ok, maybe that's what I'd heard and confused for FP return times at DL. Thanks for clearing that up :thumbsup2

Last week, we used FP for RSR. As soon we got in line, the ride stopped and it took 15 minutes to reset it.

Is there an update to the order of FP for CA now that Cars Land is open?

They have absolutely not become more strict about fp return times. Just visited last week and used all our fps whenever we wanted to!

As for new strategies regarding CL--do get your RSR fp first. They will all be gone by 9 am, or earlier! Screamin' was still not connected to the fp system when we were there, so you can ge hat whenever you want!

Have fun!

Thanks for the reply! I am updating my FP notes. So, for DL, Roger Rabbit and BTMRR are not connected and in CA, Screamin and GRR are not connected?

BTMRR is connected and GRR is also connected.

So for DL Roger Rabbit is the only disconnected FP and for DCA, Screamin' is the only disconnected FP (aside from the WOC FPs).

RSR FP is now the first FP to get in DCA since it runs out by 9:30-10am.

Thanks. Does World of Color still have Fast Passes? If so, where would those fall on the list?

WOC does have FP but since they are for a show it is really not the same. It is like having FP for RSR and no one can ride RSR unless they have a FP - no standby line. Since WOC FP is functionally different I did not include it. :)

Does getting a WOC FP impact my ability to get another FP, or is it "disconnected" from the 45 minute rule.

Also you getting a WoC FP does not affect your ability to get another FP, so it's really whenever.

It is disconnected. But again, that is a misleading term because a WOC FP is not a FP in the same way as other FPs.

Thank you, HydroGuy! You are a rockstar! :thumbsup2

To quibble, when I was there in mid July we definitely saw Space FP running out earlier than ST FP, and more importantly the standby time for Space in the evenings was ridiculous while the ST standby times were more reasonable (1+ hour for Space, 35 minutes for ST) so personally I'd advocate Space over Star Tours as far as a first FP to grab in the AM... but more generally, given the layout of DL, we pretty routinely would either

A) head towards Fantasyland, do a bunch of rides there, not worry terribly much about getting our first FP, typically either BTMRR, Indy, Splash or Space (in closest to furthest order)

B) head towards Tomorrowland, get a Space FP and ride Space, then ride Star Tours standby

C) head towards Adventureland, get an Indy FP and ride Indy, then PotC, then HM, then ride Splash and grab a Splash FP (or vice versa if it's already late enough to grab another FP)

Any of these will work as far as getting some big rides out of the way early and getting the FP collection going...

Thanks very much for your updated list. That helps me a lot! Just surprised about grabbing the Indy FP 1st thing in the AM. I thought that the FP machines weren't online until the official park opening time?

With FP window enforcement then FP collecting just is not the same. I personally would dedicate more morning time to rides and less to FP collecting because otherwise the FP windows will be too early in the morning to have much value.

I have not visited since windows were enforced. So I can't say anything from personal experience yet.
