I am trying to figure out which kind of pens/markers to buy for autographs on our pillowcases. Are Sharpies my best bet or is there something that works better? Any opinions?

Thanks! :goodvibes

I used fabric markers because I read on the DIS that sometimes regular sharpies will fade as you wash the pillowcases. ONe thing I would like to add is that we bought a multiple colored package and all of the colors look great. EXCEPT the yellow, very faint compared to all of the rest. Have a great time!

We used the crayola fabric markers on our pillowcase and it turned out great even after many washings. We just followed the directions that were on the box.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! :goodvibes

I was looking at these in the store yesterday. The question I had was on the caution about making sure something was in between when writing so that the ink did not run through to the other side. Did you place anything inside your tshirt so when they wrote on one side it didn't go through to the other? Or was this not an issue?
Also, the box mentioned to use either and iron or dryer to seal in the ink. I assumed the pillowcases were not given back to you until the end of the cruise so that this was just something you did when you went home???

Who autographs the pillow cases and should this be something I should plan on bring? :confused3

Do not use the Bic Mark It permanent markers. That's what we used for DD's pillowcase. I also used it to write her name on the inside of her sweaters for school. They are not permanent, even after 1 washing.

i had sharpies for my dd11 pillowcases to get signed...... no running thru the other side... but i will say this..........my dd11 was thrilled to have hers and one to give to her niece (my grandaughter7) in ohio.... they were done wonderfully !!! had all the characters sign them!!
a wonderful memory of our cruise............don't forget to get this done on your cruise.

I had them use a Black Sharpie on the pillowcase (Feb 2005).
After just a few washings the names have really faded.

Our next Disney Cruise in Feb 2007 I am trying the Crayola fabric markers.
Hopefully they'll last longer!

Only the Main SIX characters signed my sons pillowcase, not sure if that's common or not.

Tell me; I can take a pillowcase with the sharpie to the guest services desk and they look for all autographs?

i bought multiple colored 'fabric' pens from Michael's - they have lots of combinations to choose from - i got pastel colors for the pillowcases (because they were for girls); and they turned out really great!!! Then I used the "Waltograph" font - enlarged it, and wrote the girls' name on the pillow case. ALL the characters on board our cruise signed them - so filled both sides of the pillowcase and the girls absolutely loved them. What i would probably do differently is to get a pack of markers more in the "mickey" colors....black, red, yellow etc.....i also dropped the pillowcases off at Guest Svcs Sunday a.m. and got them back Friday night - so they had all week to sign them.....

I used sharpies...the ones that click to avoid a cap coming off by accident......I have not washed them yet, so I can't comment on the fading. If they fade I am going to think of it as a reason to cruise again!! :thumbsup2

Sharpies did wonderful for us. :) We got the pack with all different colors to spice it up some.

Do you feel invisible? Anyway...yes, you can drop off pillowcases, t-shirts, photo frame mats at guest services in a ziploc with a marker and they will be autographed by whichever characters are available during your cruise. Make sure your stateroom # is on the outside of the ziploc.

Anyone else have fading issues with either the Sharpie or Crayola pens? Getting ready to purchase mine, and just want to be as safe as possible. Fading would be a bummer!

We had major fading issues with "Sharpie". Our second cruise I tried these fabric markers by "Marvy" Marvy Fabric Markers

They come in tons of colors and no fading! :thumbsup2

Did you use the fine tip ones? Did you find them at JoAnnes or Michael's, or did you have to order them online? TIA!

I want to see if I understood well. . . the thing of the pillowcase is like this:
1. You take a pillowcase (s) with the sharpies in a ziplock to the guest service desk
2. All Characters signed them (How many pillowcases per stateroom?)
3. Whe do I get to have my pillocase (s) back?

thank you, my next trip will be on December and I want to be preapred.
