The time has come to pre-book our excursions. We've never cruised before (DCL or otherwise) so please pardon my ignorance!

I'm trying to decide whether to book the Seahorse Snorkle Adventure or the Glass-Bottomed Boat. OR, whether to book any excursions at all! Since we've never been to CC, I want to make sure that we have some relaxing "down" time to explore the island, play on the beach, etc. If we do one of these excursions, are we going to be filling up our day too much, or can you get enough of the island in a couple of hours and have some time to go on the excursion?

If there is time for an excursion, which one would you choose, Seahorse or Glass-Bottomed Boat? My DS-6 loooves to snorkle, so I would lean toward that one, but I think it's longer. Do you get to see alot of sea-life on either of these? Also, what time should I schedule our excursion? Early, or last one of the day?

Hopefully after our cruise, I'll be such an expert that I won't need to bug y'all with all these questions!

We did not book any excursions and just enjoyed the island. We did the Western in August 2003. After a week we were ready just to relax and enjoy. CC has a great snorkel area where you see some fish, maybe a ray and Mickey. We're going again in June 2005 and we just plan on enjoying the island again. We only left the beach for lunch and didn't even explore any further.

Good luck!

We did the bike's on CC and also rented some floats. Granted it was raining so we couldnt get off the boat right away and then it sprinkled off and on the whole day but I think we would have been happier to just sit at the beach and play in the sand with the kids or just hang out. We were exhausted by the time we hit CC (4 day cruise though) and we should have just played it calm but we didnt! Our kids were wiped out as were we so this time we plan on doing nothing. I think if the kids are liking the kids club this time (didnt like it much on 4 day but they didnt have enough time in there) then hubby and I MAY see if there is any room on the scuba dive at CC and try to do that..if not we plan on parking on a beach chair and just relaxing. Our opinion is it isnt necessary to do anything on CC unless you really like going going going.

We did the glass bottom boat when we were there in Jan. It was just OK. I would not recommend it. We are going again in Jan 05 and we will just relax and enjoy the island and not worry about having to do any excursions. Hope this helps.

I'd vote no excursion for CC.... plenty to do w/o paying for something else at CC

Parasailing and Banana Boat. These two leave you plenty of time to enjoy the island.

Banana Boat ride was Awesome!! Part of the family went twice!

Sign up for the 3:00 parasailing. You can enjoy the island, parasail and then be one of the last people on the island.

If you go on the banana boat be sure to wear goggles - you get a constant spray of salt water in your face. It is really fun and not that expensive. Otherwise you can save money by just enjoying the beach. We brought our own snorkeling gear - we used it at Grand Cayman, Cozumel and CC - so was worth the investment.

THANK YOU for all the replies...it sounds like the best way to enjoy CC is to just go with the flow. My pocketbook is very happy to hear that!

If we do decide on the banana boat, can a six-year-old ride?

Montessori - I love the yearbook!

No a 6 year old cannot ride. My dd is 6 and she went to play in the kids section of the island and had a blast while we rode the banana boat. There is no way she could have held on for the whole ride. My cousin and I , While seated in the front, almost fell of several times.

I think 8 is the age requirement.
