Has anyone stayed at SSR? I'm looking to go down for a weekend in Oct and I usually stay at the BCVs but I"m open to other options. I'm early twenties and would be going down alone just to relax by the pool. What do you think?

I would think that a twenty-something singleton like yourself would find SSR very attractive. Relaxing by the pool (pool bar by the main pool; more quiet at the Congress Park quiet pool), the proximity to Downtown Disney (and Pleasure Island in particular) and the awesome on-site Spa would all be attractive to me if I were a single twenty-something (which I can only imagine, being an ancient, married 42 yr old now). Sounds like fun!

Have a great time!

HAHAH! Well the whole point is to get away from everyone, hence the by myself. As for the spa that does sound lovely but I'm working full time to pay for my full time grad school. I'm having a super hectic summer schedule being full time work during the week and full time student on the weekend and then student teaching in the fall! So money is tight. The vacation is possible only b/c of DVC points. How is the pool at SSR? I'm kinda basing my opinions off the dining and the pool. I doubt I'll be going to PI at all b/c i'll be alone and just trying to relax! :cool1:

The quiet pool at SSR is great. I've never pool hopped, but would consider doing so there. The main pool doesn't impress me though.

Hmm that makes me think this is not the resort for this trip then. I want a fun pool since most of my time will be spent there!

Please don't base your decision on my opinion of the feature pool. Most love it. I'm just not crazy about the entire common area at SSR in general.

Hmmm.... When I think of a laid-back, get.away.from.it.all.and.relax resort, I confess that OKW comes to mind. Never been there (yet), but the thought of sitting out on a shady balcony on a warm day with a cool (possibly adult) beverage sounds mighty nice... [Oh DW, how many points do we have left???]

I agree with Dr. Tomorrow that OKW is the place for relaxed and laid back. BUT.... do you really want to stay away from the Epcot area during the Food & Wine Fest? To me the height of luxury would be to just wander over for a snack or a drink and wander back at will.
