Which DVC resort would you choose for a Xmas/New Year stay if availability no problem

Hi guys! We are considering a xmas/new year trip and I wondered where you have stayed/would like to stay most for Xmas/New Year. The only time we have been away for Xmas was on the Disney Cruise!

Tough question.

The answer really depends on where you will visit during your stay. The crowds are pretty maxed out at all the parks, every day. Same for the parking lots, restaurants, shops, etc.

If you plan on celebrating NYE at MK....Then Bay Lake Tower

Epcot - BCV or BWV

DHS -BCV or BWV

We have gone the past six NYE and have stayed at Saratoga Springs. A couple of the years, we booked a room at the Swan & Dolphin for NYE so we didn't have to wait 2-3 hours to get back to our resort.

We went in 2008 and we will be at WDW for NYE this year as well. We really enjoyed going on the 30th to see the fireworks at MK, they preview the NYE fireworks then, and then on NYE, we were at Epcot. Epcot does 2 firework shows. One was around 8:30 for "famlies with children" and the other began just before midnight.

Walking home to BWV was wonderful. I think BLT or BCV would also be wonderful places to stay on NYE! BWV still had a party going on the Village Green when we got there.

Split stay. Wilderness Lodge over Christmas and Beach Club over New Years

We opted for AKV Kidani for 4 nights and a THV for 3 including NYE.

I would consider the type of unit you are getting and whether you actually are there for Christmas. We have gone for Christmas the last two years. I think the size of the living space is more important than what resort if you want to consider taking a small tree and/or select presents. You can always have a meal (or just walk around) at another resort if you want to see the decorations.

now the studios at BLT are small. So if you afford it - a 1-bedroom here.

You can walk to the MK. It has access thru the monrail to Epcot.

Studios at the other DVC resorts are fine.

Two Christmases ago we spent one night VWL and then the rest of the week in a 1 BDR at BWV. Last Christmas we spent the whole week in a 2 BDR at BWV:love:

First time it was just DD (now 17), DH and me in a 1 BDR ... last year it was the three of us and my parents.

We loved being able to walk to EPCOT and DHS.

If I had it my way we would spend Christmas at BWV every year .with maybe a night or two in a 1 BDR at BLT!

For NYE, I'd have a tough time deciding between a 1 bedroom Boardwalk View at the BWV and a 1 bedroom MK View at BLT.

I'm pretty sure I would pick the BWV, though. :teeth:

Never having stayed at WDW at Christmas or NYE I can't really decide how important it would be to stay a nearby resort. However, based on looks alone, I'd pick VWL. The decor there and at WL just enhances Christmas decorations.

I would make the decision based on which park you would like to visit for NYE. The crowds and transportation backup following NYE festivities are not to be believed. If you want to be at MK, then BLT would allow you to walk back to your room and if you want to be at DHS or EPCOT, then BWV or BCV would be a short walk. Personally, we prefer Bobbi's strategy to see NYE fireworks at MK on Dec. 30, when crowds are much lower and then do DHS or EPCOT on NYE. We find many of the resorts to be lovely at Christmas, so decorations would not be our deciding factor.

Are the NYE fireworks at the MK on 30th Dec exactly the same as the ones on NYE? What time do they happen?
I think BLT would be my first choice, but we do not own points there, so getting in at the 7 mnth mark would be tough I imagine.
Has anyone ever spent Xmas at Vero or HH or done a split stay with WDW at this time of year?

We are arriving on Dec 30th in afternoon so didn't plan on going to a park that day. Where can we watch the MK fireworks that doesn't involve actually being in the park? Any resort areas or beaches that we could visit?

I've only been the one time, but I think the MK fireworks on the 30th are the same as on the 31st. They begin with a countdown in the sky...10, 9 , 8....and so on...till, WOW! The 10, 9 etc, are all around in the sky...what a site! They began at midnight.

Since you said DVC, not specifying WDW, I'd have to honestly say HHI. But if you meant at WDW, I'd probably say OKW, since we're not partiers. A nice quiet NYE sounds excellent to me.

Simba's mum....have you ever been to HHI for either Xmas or NYE?
Debx:goodvibes

Never been able to, family obligations. But there are many, many days over the holidays when I've wished "DVC, take me away to HHI!"

Poly would be a good choice. could watch from the TTC center. Park at Epcot, monoraail over to TTC. Then off to Poly to watch the fireworks from the beach or by the boat launch at the TTC.

If you are talking DVC, the Boardwalk. The place is decorated nicely and there is a festive atmosphere around the Boardwalk itself. Two years ago, they had a DJ party on the lawn between the Inn and Villas. If I were to do NYE again, I would hit the Magic Kingdom on the 30th and either EPCOT of MGM for NYE.
