Which DVC one bedrooms sleep 5?

I just made along post and the website ate it up. If it shows up at a later time asking this same question it is a mistake.

OKW shows on the Disney site to only sleep 4 in the one bedroom and we know it really sleeps 5.

Does the Beach Club sleep 4 or 5 in the one bedroom?

How about SSR?

The website is showing all one bedroom villas sleep 4.

We were dead set on OKW but DH is salivating over Beach Club.

We probably won't buy Beach Club since it is $80 a point and OKW is $55 a point, but I am just curious if the Beach Club one bedrooms, or any other DVC resort besides OKW sleeps 5 in the one bedroom because the Disney site info in not accurate right now?

All DVC 1 bedrooms sleep 4, with the exception of BLT, AKV, Aulani, and OKW. I would imagine that the Grand Floridian Villas 1 bedrooms will sleep 5 as well. Value rooms at AKV can not sleep 5.

I would imagine that as resorts come up for their refurb that they will add the sleeper chair to the 1 bedrooms so that eventually all or most 1 bedrooms will sleep 5

I think OKW, BLT and AK are the only ones that sleep 5 in a 1 BR. DVC will allow a 5th person into the other locations for 1 BR unit, but you would need to supply / rent your own bedding (like an air matress) for the 5th person.

Thank you for your responses. The more I look at Beach Club the more I am talking DH out of even considering it. It doesn't have a full kitchen or laundry room inside the unit like OKW.

I just think you get so much more for the money at OKW.

AK or BLT doesn't interest me at all.
DH said the same thing, we could always bring a sleeping bag or blow up mattress for person number 5 but I am not sure if that goes over the LEGAL occupancy level of that room and would get us in trouble for doing that.

I would hate to BUY into DVC then do something wrong. Not sure what would happen if you did that.

EDITED: I did not see where PP just said DVC allows a 5th person in the other units. That's good to know just in case we ever want to check out the other resorts.

But all the other one bedroom villas seem to look like a standard hotel room sort of. Nothing like the huge OKW villa.

I would not count on other locations sleeping 5 in the 1 BR (with the sleeper chair), other than the ones that currently do. It has been stated by many that other resorts' 1 BRs are not large enough to hold the sleeper chair (BCV included), so I wouldn't count on that.

Also OP - it sounds like you are looking at studio photos not 1 Bedrooms.

BCV 1 BR has a full kitchen and laundry inside the room, and doesn't look like a standard hotel room. Studios at all the properties resemble a hotel room, but 1 BRs definitely do not and all have the kitchen/laundry.

I was Googling and cannot find pictures of the BCV one bedroom. Not on Disney or on Allears. They even have videos of the rooms on Allears but it goes from a studio right to a 2 bedroom.

If you can't find any pictures, the 1 br is basically the 2 br without the 2nd bedroom. So master suite and living/kitchen/dining.

On allears.net, go here and the second section down is the 1 bedroom.

an occupancy of 5 is allowed in all 1br except AKV values, when reserving through DVC. Now where you are going to sleep and what bedding you are going to use is another question.

I think you've come across some mistaken information. All DVC one, two and three bedroom villas have a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and jacuzzi tub. That's in every single resort. There are no one-bedroom villas anywhere in the DVC system that are like a standard hotel room.

The only real difference between OKW's villas and those at the other resorts is that OKW's villas are somewhat larger, and their studios have two queen beds, where the others have a queen and a sofa bed. The appointments are the same otherwise.

Regarding occupancy, the 1-bedroom villas at OKW, BLT, and AKV (most villas, anyway), 'officially' sleep 5 plus one child under the age of 3. These one-bedrooms also have a sleeper chair in the living room, so there's actual sleeping spaces for 5 people.

1-bedroom villas at BCV, VWL, SSR, BWV, and some at AKV, have an 'official' occupancy of 4 persons plus one child under the age of 3. Member Services has been allowing parties of 5 plus 1 child under the age of three for some time now, but there's no guarantee that they won't start enforcing the official occupancy limit at some point in the future. In these villas, there is a king bed and a sofa bed, and Disney will not provide additional bedding for the 5th person.

I appreciate your responses. I think we are going to stick with the original plan to buy into OKW resale.

One thing to consider - OKW expires in 2042, along with BCV, BWV, HH, Vero. There are some OKW contracts that were extended to 2057. SSR expires in 2054, AKV 2057, BLT 2060.

There are some good DVC room tours on Tagrel's site. Here is a link to the BCV 1BR tour: http://www.tagrel.com/Tours/DVC/BCV/BCV_1BdrmTour.shtml

Some of the room tours are a bit out of date as far as furnishings go. For example, I think the AKV tour was from the model rooms before the decor was finalized and the BWV tour is prior to the recent refurbishment. The room layouts and amenities haven't changed though.

Nope, not going to happen with the space they need. Those living rooms are pretty small.

OP, SSR, BWV, VWL, BCV are all very similar in the layout of the villas. BCV has no Grandvillas, just like VWL. SSR and BWV both have GV (as does OKW, AKV, BLT.)

Exactly.

There are essentially three different "generations" of DVC resort in Orlando.

Generation One is Old Key West. These are, by far, the largest of the Orlando units in DVC. (They also have some odd interior angles that make the space less usable than it should be, but...) The 1BRs here have one bath, but are large enough for the sleeper chair in the LR to sleep five. And, five might be a little tight in a 1BR, but it would be doable.

Generation Two resorts are SSR, BCV, BWV, and VWL. From my perspective, all of the second gen resorts have ridiculously small "common space" vs. private space (bedrooms/baths). They also cut corners on the kitchen appliances, etc. to squeeze more units into less space. My family of four was comfortable in a 2BR at VWL. Six would be tight. Eight is unimaginable. I would not want to try to fit my four into a 1BR at these resorts, let alone five people.

Generation Three resorts: BLT and AKV-Kidani. These resorts have two baths in the 1BR units, and three baths in the 2BR units. The living rooms in both have sleeper chairs. They aren't quite as spacious as OKW, but they are much better than the 2nd gen resorts. AKV-Jambo is an odd duck--more like a 2nd Gen resort, but not quite that tight in most cases.

Brian you have it down perfectly. I stayed with my daughter's family in January in a Kidani Two Bedroom. We had lots of room. We have a two bedroom reserved at the BCV in November and I know we will be a little tight. I stayed with friends in a two bedroom OKW in December and marveled (again) at the spacious feeling there.

I would like to have the layout of OKW or Kandani with the proximity to the parks BCV affords. Now that would be a perfect match!!! I have never stayed at BLT but from seeing the models it is smaller than Kidani.

This is a three year old thread but I am resurrecting it to ask which one bedroom DVC units now allow 5 adults on a one bed reservation? I know a lot of units have been refurbed and/or have had a sleeper chair added.

OKW, AKV (but not value villas) and BLT have the twin sized sleeper chair. GFV has the murphy bed for the fifth person that is not quite twin sized. They call it bunk size.

And now DVC has studios that sleep 5. VGF, Poly Villas and VWL for sure. How things have changed!

Interestingly though (as posted above) the only change since the original thread in the one BRs occupancy is the addition of VGF. 1 BRs haven't really changed, but studios have.

I have seen this on another website:
  • One Bedroom Villas can accommodate four people plus one child under age three in a crib. 5th guest can be accommodated, but must provide their own bedding and linens.

Is this true? If so, can that 5th person be put on the reservation?
