Which Drink Bookings to Keep?

We did mixology recently and it is just not as fun now with the limited audience participation. The drinks were also nothing special, all were super sweet. With the new higher prices I don’t see the value of this versus ordering cocktails you actually enjoy.
I agree about the value. 5 years ago it was a value now that the prices have increased substantially we think its a waste of money. Much better off using that cash on individual drinks now.

I was on the Dream April 29th and we did three...Mixology, Martini and Rum. We loved Mixology and Martini. Rum was just ok. We had so much fun making the drinks in Mixology! I highly recommend it!
Did you mix multiple drinks? Also, while mixing, did you do it from the guest side of the bar, or were you behind the bar?

On the Dream in March, everyone got to mix their own Mojito. All other drinks were prepared and served by the staff. We mixed from behind the bar, but a report from the Fantasy said they were not allowed behind the bar in Skyline.

I haven't done the specific tastings mentioned here, but I have some thoughts that might be helpful based on the ones I have done. I probably enjoyed the rum tasting the best, in part because aged rums are my favorite spirit and in part because there were a couple of other enthusiasts at the tasting. Those interactions elevated the experience. So you may consider what you're interested in getting from the experience beyond just having a few drinks. If you just want to discover new things and you don't have experience with any of them, they're probably about the same.

Each person did one drink, well 5. So 5 people went up to the bar and made 5 drinks (all the same) then we passed them out. Then the next 5 went up and made another drinks, and so on. We used strainers and shakers and added the alcohol. The only thing pre-made was the OJ in one set of drinks and fruit in another. We added everything else to the drinks. We loved it!

Sounds like what we did in mixology on the Dream in Dec 2022... it was fun time and the "activity" and interaction made it worth it.

If not mixing not sure it would be wise.

Seems like every boat but the Dream is limited.

We like the Chocolate & Liquor Tasting, but the prices have gone up again in the last couple of days for almost all of the beverage tastings. Champagne tasting is now $70 per person!

Just checked, and the higher prices are already listed for our upcoming cruise on Sep 17. We booked a few tastings last week when our booking window opened, and it appears that the old prices will be honored for the ones we already booked. But everything is now listed with higher prices. I booked a new one as a test (and then immediately cancelled), and it charged me the higher price. Unfortunately, it looks like anyone who hasn't had the chance to book yet will be stuck paying the higher prices.

For my April 17 Wish cruise my sister and I have the champagne tasting, liquor and chocolate tasting, and mixology classes booked. The prices are pretty expensive and I’m not sure I want to keep all of them. Has anyone done these? Which are the must dos? I’m also willing to be convinced it’s worth it to keep all of them lol.
I have done only Mixology classes and my husband has done the beer and whiskey ones. You can’t go wrong with mixology. The drinks are full size and they are different every cruise.

Oh, wow. A time traveler! 8-)

The Dream does seem to offer a decent experience. But even there, reports differ from sailing to sailing.

Lol sorry getting ahead of myself, in 2022.. 😄

I think we simply are not going to risk it, and hope that it returns to what it was for future sailings.

OP, checking back in what did you decide? I am still terribly torn on keeping the mixology on my upcoming trip with the risk of no mixing...
Hey, thank you for asking! We ended up doing the champagne and chocolate and liquor tasting. The champagne was the one my sister wanted to do- I'm not a huge wine drinker but was surprised by how much I liked the class. We had Sam as our host and got I think 5 different champagnes and a gin and champagne cocktail. It was delightful. I also really liked the chocolate one and the different types of chocolates and drinks they give you to be able to side by side see the difference it can make in taste and preference. We didn't do mixology mostly because we were in concierge and they said that at 5 every day we could just go to the lounge and they would teach us to make any darn drink we wanted which was a pretty solid argument for saving the money!
I am so glad I did the two I did, but it feels very much like a one and done for me.

I had Sam for Mixology and Martini he's definitely the best I had. He just got off Wish yesterday. Hoping he's on next time I cruise

My Mom (who is not a drinker and doesn’t care much for champagne and doesn’t care to learn about them) and I (who loves champagne and appreciates the knowledge) actually both loved the champagne tasting! She was pleasantly shocked and I learned so much! We really enjoyed it! I wouldn’t mind booking it again on our upcoming trip if given the opportunity since we are still silvers. But I would REALLY love to try the chocolate and liquor, so I am hoping to get that opportunity!
