Yakitori (Counter Service-Epcot/Japan)

or

Lotus Blossom Cafe (Counter Service-Epcot/China)

What did you get and what did you think about it?

The Yakitori House in Japan is my favorite of all the World Showcase restaurants. We always get the Udon Noodle bowl with shrimp tempura. Yum!

We've never tried the Yakitori House, but always get 2 or 3 items from Lotus Blossom Cafe to share for a snack.lol. We try something new, sorry, I can't remember what they have been and we order the sweet and sour chicken, because we know we like that. It has always been fresh and hot. My boys love it.

DH is a lover of asian foods but the Yakitori house is called the "nasty grisly chicken thigh hut on the hill in Japan" in our house. It was the nastiest thing we ever ate....one bite and it ended in the garbage.

Lotus Blossom is very good. We have eaten there many times and last month noticed a menu change. We had the shrimp fried rice, huge shrimp and one in each forkful....it was loaded! Great egg rolls and very good peach oolong ice tea. DH looks forward to eating here every trip

I love Lotus Blossom but we tried the Yakatori House recently for something different. To preface - neither one of us is that huge of an Asian food eater.

Yakatori House was OK. But as MIckeyNicki said, it was tough to get around the thought of spending that money on chicken thighs. They do have other dishes with the thighs but we were looking for "real food". My husband said it was a nice experiment but we wouldn't be returning anytime soon. I agreed.

Lotus Blossom is a favorite of mine - less of a favorite with my husband since they removed the adult size pork fried rice from the menu. He is interested in the trying the orange chicken (no thigh meat) but has never really been hungry for Chinese food when we've stopped.

I get the kids meal of fried rice and an egg roll. Or a snack of a couple of egg rolls. The duck sauce makes a perfect condiment and the wine is good but only when you have something to eat with it. On its own, it's horrible.

My one big complaint with Lotus Blossom is the removal of the fortune cookies from the menu. They replaced them with almond cookies. A bag of four fortune cookies to tote around the parks was a great snack to go along with the egg rolls.
