We are trying to plan a DLR vacation, but are having trouble deciding on a hotel. How large are the rooms at each of the DLR hotels? Which is the best option?

TIA :goodvibes

:goodvibes There are only 3: GCH, DLH, and the PPH.

The DLH is the oldest with the most classic Disney theme.
GHC is the newest with a theme/color scheme similar to the WLV but way less campy, more classy.
PPH has a Disney meets the beach theme and our favorite as far as theme goes.

The GCH rooms are the smallest. The lobby is amazing. The food choices are good too.

The PPH is the furthest but not far compared to any WDW resort hotel.

So the most expensive hotel has the smallest rooms? Which has the largest?

I think the PPH and DLH have about the same size rooms. Standard is 2 queens with a daybed/futon.

The GCH has some rooms with a Queen and a bunkbed with trundle (which sleeps 5) combo, but no rooms with a daybed. They also do not offer rollaways, just a sleeping bag (yep, seriously!). The DLH is just starting a major refurb of all its rooms. When is your vacation?

A sleeping bag? :scared1: That would not work for us after a 6 hour flight :lmao:

Since I'm going to WDW in August/September 2009 and in October 2009, I'm thinking either Spring 09 or Fall/Winter 09.

Do you know when DLH refurb is scheduled to be complete?

They just started in August, and it won't be complete until 2012. They are doing major reconstruction as they are taking out the sliding doors and replacing them with windows. You can read more about it here:

I would say the Disneyland Hotel because it has that whole Disney charm, and it is close to the monorail which can take you inside Disneyland park. Paradise Pier hotel is a lot farther away so that makes it a bit inconvenient to get to the parks.

The Grand does have rooms with two Queens and a daybed, that sleeps 5. You have to request it when you make a reservation or you will just get two queens. The bunk beds are also a request. When we forgot to request the daybed they offered us the sleeping bag with pad. The little kids loved it and brought them up to the concierge lounge for storytime.
