Which dinner show was the most fun and worth the money? How was the food?
Spirit of Aloha
Backyard Barbeque
Hoop de doo Revue

We are 2 families travelling 5 kids ages 5-13.
thanks

HDDR OR BYBBQ. Have been to both both are really fun. So either way you can't go wrong. But if I have to choose one I go with HDDR for this trip and try BYBBQ next time.

I agree with both places, but would do BBQ this year, HDDR next! My kids loved loved loved the BBQ. I leaned more towards the HDDR, but have to keep in mind, Im doing this for the kids!!

For the younger kids, I would say the BBQ since the characters come out and dance with all of the children.:goodvibes

Well I think they are both good for kids. We do love them both. It's a hard call. My boys when they were young we would go every yr to the HDDR and my DH would always got picked for the Indian. Good memories! It's all good.

We did the BBQ on an extended family trip a few years ago and we had kids at the time from 13 YO down to 18 months. They all loved it. It is actually one of the whole family's favorite memories because it was so laid back and all the kids ate and the characters were so fun and we all got to dance and it was just a REALLY good time.

We've never done the BBQ or HDDR, but we did the luau for the first time in September and we loved it....we thought the food was great and the show was cute :goodvibes. There are alot of not-so-good reviews on the luau but we really enjoyed ourselves and thought it was money well spent ;).

more opinions please!

Just a thought...You may want to change this thread into a poll. That way people can vote, even if they don't feel like posting to the thread. Polls seem to get more "hits" than general thread questions.

I liked Spirit of Aloha but I don't think that it had any characters. Children seem really into characters (I also don't have any kids, which may explain why I have no idea if there were characters there or not! :) ) so the other shows may be a good idea.

ive been to spirit of aloha on july 1st but did not realy liked it so i would advice hddr or bbq

joyce

I have also heard bad reviews of the Spirit of Aloha. I would go HDDR.

My sister and I did all of them last summer and the only one we liked was the HDDR. We loved it and the food was so good. The BBQ we made it thru it, but would not go back. The Spirit of Aloha we walked out half way thru we did not like the food and enteriment was ok, but we were there in August and it was to hot to enjoy. I thought I should say my sister was 9 at the time and is a very picky eater. Have a great trip.

Our family (just the three of us) Hubby, Myself and DD (age six at the time) loved both Hoop-dee-doo and The Spirit of Aloha. This upcoming trip we have tickets for both.

Spirit of Aloha....from what I remember we ate Salad, pineapple bread (so good), fresh pineapple, ribs ----unlike any you have EVER had. I knpw there was other things but the ribs really stick out in my mind....they were SO good.

Hoop-Dee-Doo....had the same ribs....corn...corn bread....fried chicken.....baked beans and a few other things I cannot remember. For dessert the actors dance on stage and the wait staff comes out with the strawberry shortcake. At the end the kids are handed old fashion washboard and play the homemade instrument with spoons......it was GREAT.

Things to consider Spirit of ALoha is in an OPEN AIR theater. Go to the latest show if possible to really enjoy the fire dancer (it's darker)....he was AMAZING!!!

Hoop-dee-doo is air conditioned and the last performance at 9:00 or 9:30 has buses waiting to take you back to your resort. I wish Spirit of Aloha had that too.

We have done all 3 and we prefer the HDDR and Spirit of Aloha. Although the only one with characters is the BYBBQ. While we thought the BYBBQ was cute it IMO was deffinately not worth the money. But then we all have our own tastes and likes. We do the HDDR every time we go though and always enjoy it. :)
