We are trying to plan our next Disney vacation and decided to try a deluxe this time (or a Home-Away-From Home). I was thinking of the Beach Club or the Contemporary for the convenience of them. Any ideas?

how many people in your group and what ages?
and also how long are you going for?
also, is there a park you would like to spend more time in?

when we go for a long time we like to get a DVC 2 bedroom villa, for the kitchen, washer/dryer, and extra space (we're 4 people....this way the kids get their own bedroom)..

but sometimes we do the deluxe stay instead...sometimes deluxe concierge...it depends on our mood..

and sometimes we combine both together, splitting our visit...

We have only stayed in the CR. We are a family of 5 and we spend most of our time in MK. If you spend a lot of time in MK or Epcot the monorail resorts are just TOO convienent!! That is what I loved about the CR so much. Hop on the monorail and you are back. We didnt even have to get outside to go to our room (we were in the tower) if it was raining. Roll the stroller on with sleeping child, roll the stroller off and on to the elevator. We really liked the feel of the CR also. So much going on, but once we shut the door to our room we heard nothing. The kids also liked the arcade and the slide at the pool. Some people dont like the "themeing" of CR, but we loved it. They are also renovating the rooms and I saw pictures on the web and it looks neat. The rooms are also VERY big. The balcony and view of the MK was AWSOME. We are staying at POP in 23 days and I hope we can adjust. We just loved the CR!! Have fun planning!

If you are a family that wants to save a little on food then I would go with the Deluxe home away from home resort! In a 1 bedroom you can have a full-size kitchen and all that goes with it...plus a washer and dryer! For me it's worth it!

You can also save alot on these accomdations if you check out the DVC rent/trade forum, good luck no matter what you decide to do!

We are a family of 4, 2 adults 2 children ages 6 & 7. I like the idea of the closeness of the CR, but was never a fan of the hotel. I love the looks of the Beach Club or the Beach Club Villas, but don't know all that much about them. I do like the idea that you can walk over to Epcot and have the water shuttle to both Epcot and MGM Studios. That is a plus for me. We will probably spend a couple of days over in MK a couple in Epcot and a couple in MGM (usually only 1 day in Animal Kingdom). We are going over the busiest times of the year (4th of July week) so I thought that we should try to stay somewhere as convenient as possible. We are staying 10 days and I am going to avoid the parks at all costs on the 4th (thought that I would stay somewhere that we could see the fireworks from our resort or somewhere close by. Any suggestions??

Based on your itinerary I would suggest the Boardwalk or Yachtclub. These are 2 beautiful hotels with a lot to do. You can walk to Epcot from both resorts and take the boat to MGM. They both have good restaurants nearby.

I was thinking the same thing. Do you know how the restaurants are around there?? Are there any counter service restaurants for a quick bite in the morning? We are doing the meal plan and I found when we stayed at POR it was nice having the CS right there. Also, do they do refillable mugs there too?

We are a family of 5 - me, dh, ds11, dd6 & dd4 and we leave in 26 days for our third stay at the YC. We love the location - as you mentioned walk to Epcot, walk or boat to MGM, walk to the boardwalk and you can even walk to Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf (its a bit of a hike past the Swan/Dolphin - but we did it last time when dd's were 4 & 2). Transortation to MK and AK was a quick bus ride away, we do go in off season though and the busses were not too crowded. My family loves Stormalong Bay - but again we go in November/December when not everybody wants to swim. We were able to see Illuminations from our balcony which was a lagoon view on the 4th floor our previous two times. You can also see Illuminations from the beach or from the bridge near the Boardwalk.

For a quick breakfast there is the Beach Club Market Place or the Boardwalk Bakery. Cape May Cafe and The YC Galley have excellent breakfast buffets too. For quick lunches there is Beaches and Cream or Hurricane Hannas.

Anyway - you can't go wrong with a Disney Deluxe!

Have a great trip!

Cheers-

Given that (1) you will be at WDW on the 4th (2) you don't want to go into a park and (3) you still want to see the fireworks, I would suggest the Polynesian. The Polynesian has a very nice pool and you will be able to watch the MK fireworks from your hotel. They are the extra-special fireworks that are displayed in the lagoon as well as the MK. It is also very convenient to the MK (monorail or boat) and Epcot (walk to TTC to the monorail).
