We are staying offsite so only have one day that we can get into the parks early. We arrive Wed (the 25th) and I believe Thursday and Saturdays are days we can go. Of course getting to Carsland and getting a FP is the objective.......Normally I would go on Thursday because we will be used to time, not to mention the 6 year old will be faunching at the bit. However, I have been reading how nonbusy Saturdays are so didnt know if that might be a better option.

Whatcha think?

I think you may be confused. Can you clarify and state how you get an EE?

1. Magic Morning (MM)

What? Entrance to Disneyland Park one hour before official park opening to ride select attractions

Who? Guests can take advantage of MM by purchasing ANY ticket of 3 or more days. This will entitle the ticket holder to one MM admission. There are some exceptions such as Gay Day, military, and convention tickets, but most big name ticket sellers have MM eligible tickets (Disney, AAA, Costco, So. Cal City Pass, most online sources such as ARES Travel)

When? MM is currently offered on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (the days that start with "S" and "T"). And MM is ALWAYS one hour before official park opening.

How? Enter just like you would normally and the MM is deducted from your ticket. There is no extra piece of paper or voucher needed for MM.

2. Extra Magic Hour (EMH)

What? Entrance to Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure one hour before official park opening to ride select attractions

Who? Guests can take advantage of EMH by staying at one of the 3 onsite hotels (Grand Californian (including the new VGC DVC places), Disneyland Hotel, or Paradise Pier Hotel). This will entitle the hotel guests EMH every day during their stay, including arrival (yes, possibly before your room is ready) and departure days.

When?
From 7/16/12-9/13/12, EMH is offered at BOTH DL and DCA every single day.

After 9/13/12, the schedule for EMH is as follows:
-EMH for Disneyland Park is offered on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (same days as MM).
-EMH for Disney California Adventure is offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Again, EMH (at both parks) begins 1 hour before park opening.

How? Each guest must have a valid source of park admission and also show their active hotel room key card. In the past, a piece of paper explaining Magic Morning procedures has been given to onsite guests at check in. That paper, by itself, does not grant any EA privileges, so you cannot pass it on to someone else. All you need is your ticket and your room key.

Where? Guest can line up for EMH at either the main entrance to DCA or the Grand Californian Hotel entrance. The main park entrance is probably a faster route to hit up Carsland.

3. Annual Pass Early Entry (APEE)

What? Entrance to Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure one hour before official park opening to ride select attractions

Who? Annual Passholders (of any of the 4 levels)

When? AP holders can register online for 1 APEE at each park (DL and DCA) between 6/18/12-9/13/12. There is no indication at this point about if APEE will continue after 9/13/12.

APEE dates are OPPOSITE of MM/EMH:
-DL APEE will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
-DCA APEE will be on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Like the other 2 EA options, APEE at both parks begins 1 hour before park opening.

How? You must sign up on the official DLR AP website. Each AP holder can only attend 2 APEE (1 per park) during the duration of these summer dates. Your AP must be valid on that dates that you sign up for (no block out tickets allowed). There is no extra fee for APEE. When you register for APEE you can register a party up to 8 people in size. Every person in your party attending APEE must have a valid DLR AP. When you register, you must provide the AP# and DoB for each member of your party.

Beginning 30 minutes before APEE (so 6:30AM) registered guests may start checking in at Ticket Booth 4 (left of DCA's gates when facing them). Every person in your party must be present because they will give you special wristbands for the event. You must check-in before heading to the gates of the respective park for APEE.

Do you mean MM? and whether you should do DL on Thursday or Saturday? Are you doing Toontown Morning Madness? Then I'd say Saturday so you can do the park then go over to Toontown.

Yep exactly what I meant! Thanks!

I'm going to suggest Thursday solely on the fact that it's earlier in your trip, and thus, you'll be more energized and ready/willing to wake up early for MM. Who knows how tired you'll be come Sat night, especially if you want to see a nighttime show on Friday night, perhaps.

The difference between MM crowds on Thursday vs. Saturday will be small.

I agree with DLR29. It's usually alot easier to get up and go early the first full day of your trip. Unless you are really set on the Toontown thing, then I'd go with Thursday as the answer.

Just to clarify, Carsland is in DCA so it has nothing to do with your MM.
