We have a short December trip 5-9. Since this is our second trip this year, we want to relax alittle and our planning one day to stay completly at our AKL resort. We were thinking Sat would be the best day. That would mean we would need to spend Monday at EE MGM then switch to MK for Spectro and fireworks. since this is the only other day these are on during our trip. Should we pick another day to relax at resort and take adv. of Sat at MK for Spectro and fireworks? They are also filiming the parade for ABC that day (Dec 6). Some say avoid MK, some here say go.

Well, Sat at MK is chaotic at best. And if they are filming the parade that day, it will be even worse. We have always tried to avoid MK on Sats. But, if you really want to see the parade being filmed, then you'll just have to put up with the crowds. I would skip the parks on Sunday and just hang out on that day since it's right in the middle of your stay. That's how I like to break up our trips anyway. Have a ball in any case!!!!

Thanks for reply Goofy4Tink. Sounds relaxing to have resort only day in the middle of the trip, but worried about any Parks on Sat. It is not that important to see filming of parade with two small children. If we switch resort only to Sunday, then which of the schedules below would you disney experts choose and why?

#1 Sat: MGM in a.m and MK in p.m for Spectro and fireworks.
Mon: MK in a.m. and Epcot for CP and Illuminations.

#2 Sat: MGM in a.m. and Epcot for CP
Mon: MK in a.m and MK for Spectro and fireworks

Or
Should we keep resort only for Saturday?

I like option #2. I thought MGM had EE on Saturday. If that's the case, you would probably want to leave the park mid-day anyway. Epcot is big enough that the crowds really shouldn't be to bad on Saturday, especially when so many people will be at MK for Spectro and the parade. I would definitely stay away from MK on Saturday to avoid the crowds.

Now, if you stay at AKL on Saturday, you will be able to take advantage of EE at MK on Sunday. I don't think there's anything wrong with your original plan of making Saturday your resort day. As long as your family can truly relax and not be too anxious about getting to a park.

You could always spend the day at the resort on saturday and just go to MK to see Spectro and the fireworks. Not sure if you have an AP or just day passes but we do this quite often. It is your choice. I think any saturday at any of the parks is crowded, I have been to all of them on saturdays and they all seem to be pretty full, but MK is normally worse. We normally stay at the resort and go to Downtown Dis on saturdays and do the parks during the week. All of these ideas are good, it is up to you.

I would go with option 2. I always like to split my days in the parks between two parks anyway.
