Which Dave Ramsey book to start with?

We are not in serious trouble but really need to get more control of our finances and develop some sort of budget strategy. I am interested in Ramsey's Christian approach to finances. I see the books Financial Peace (and planner) and More than Enough, but wasn't sure if I should jump right in with Total Money Makeover. And should I purchase the workbook to go with whatever text? Thanks for your advice!

My best advice is check with your local library to see what they have! I believe Financial Peace is what is recommended. Have you checked his website? I think quite a few of the forms are free. I didn't find the workbooks that helpful but you may. Good Luck!

I would start with the book Total Money Makeover. It lays out the steps for you in an easy to read format. I would try to borrow it from your library for free instead of buying it if possible. Also, I would not buy the workbook. You can probably do okay without it, because there are several example worksheets in the book.

Also, there is a forum www.llnoe.com. It is free, but you have to register to read over there. Its "Living Like No One Else", which is one of Dave's phrases. The people on that forum can help you with creating a budget, and you can also see what other people following Dave's plan are doing to reach their goals.

I've *only* read TMMO, and I found that it was a nice stepping stone, and the rest of it has been learned from reading the free articles on ramsey's site AND by joining llnoe.com.
