Which dates would you choose?

Hi everyone! I am having some difficulties trying to nail down my dates for my Birthday trip! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions... Basically the 1st option adds half a park day to the trip so not that much different but just thought I would get others opinions, I've heard that early June is generally less busy (new rides opening will affect that I am sure) so not sure if by going one day earlier will make much of a difference.

Option 1: Leave home Thursday June 9th. Visit the parks Friday June 10th. Take Saturday off (AP block out for me.) Do the parks all day (with afternoon breaks) Sunday - Wednesday. Half a day on Thursday before our flights leave.

Option 2: Leave home on Saturday June 11th. Do the parks all day Sunday - Thursday. Leave for home early Friday morning (no park time, I will work night shift at work that night so need to leave early enough to get some rest.)

Hey Paula that is what we are doing. Our AP's are blocked and the kids don't get out of school till the 10th anyway and I just found out that mom bought me tickets to see Mary Poppins on the night of the 10th for my b-day so we are leaving on Sunday the 10th. Orig we wer going to drive down on Sat but now we decided to come down on Sunday because the deal we got at PP the rooms are more expensive on Sat night.

We will be there Sat through the following Fri and drive home that next Sat.

We should def hook up for a drink or lunch or something!! I will have my dh and kids but they don't bite I swear!!

When is your B-day by the way?? My dh's is May 29th and mine is June 3rd so we will be celebrating our b-days while we are there. We can never go on our ACTUAL b-days since the kids are still in school and it is too close to the end of the year.

12th is DD 4th bday

we were going (and I need to change my ticker) later this month but DH has to travel for work..

Because it will be regular summer, you probably wouldn't miss out on any entertainment going on weekends or midweeks.

I'd take option 2, because even when it's busy, weekdays beat weekends.

My Birthday is June 14th!! So I WILL be there ON my birthday!

So so far the consensus is Saturday - Friday...


If I do that route I will stay someplace cheaper the first night then move early Sunday morning to a DLR hotel. I haven't decided where to stay yet!

I REALLY want to stay at GCH but am afraid if I just book a standard view than we will still end up walking forever. Which would mean the PPH makes more sense... Although I love all the disney touches in the new DLH rooms... I am so torn!

I really want this trip to be special so plan on spending at least Sunday-Thursday (or friday depending on which days we end up with on DLR property) in a Disney hotel. This will give us MM entry on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday....


If we do the Thursday - Thursday I am looking at booking a 3night stay with Costco Travel at the Anabella. While I do not need the park ticket that comes with this package the park ticket won't expire till Dec 31 so I can use it after my AP expires in October. This then gives me 3 days at Annabella and 4 at a DLR hotel....

I really should put this in a spreadsheet to find out how financially different the costs are...

So on a rough estimate the Sat - Fri trip would be approximately $60 cheaper than going Thursday - Thursday. HOWEVER. The Thu - Thu trip gives me an extra PH ticket for approximately $200 in value to use later in the year. So in that sense it is actually $140 cheaper to go that route. Plus while it only gives an extra half a park day it gives me a full extra day with my best friend I haven't seen in 3.5 years!

I'm going to say option 2 because weekdays>weekends. Especially during the summer.

Hey I don't know if you got the email being an AP holder but we got a GREAT deal at PP!! They have 25% off on the PP and 30% off on the DLH and GC for our dates!! Call Disney Travel and ask!! If you DID end up at PP we would be at the same hotel!! That would be a hoot! Did I hear you say you will be there with your friend? How fun.

We should def meet up for maybe lunch or something. Once you get your dates all settled I can let you know what days we are thinking about what parks and what our tentative plans are for meals and such and hopefully we can find something that works out otherwise we could always meet at DTD or something. FUN!!

We can all celebrate our birthdays together!! Woopee!!!

The flight we would be taking on Thursday is late. So we would be able to stay at the parks till about 3 - 3:30pm. Unfortunately no cheap flights in/out of SNA so we will have to take the shuttle to LAX which eats up quite a bit of time.

Sounds like a plan...

I am planning on lots of special treats to celebrate my birthday. I feel like this is a once in a lifetime trip to be able to spend my birthday with my best friend at a place I LOVE!

So far the restaurants I am planning on is the:
Carnation Cafe (probly for a lunch)
BBQ roundup
Several Character meals (I am such a kid!)
Cafe Orleans (I love the monte cristo!)

Yay!! We are def planning on CC AND the BBQ!! We are also planning on at least one character breakfast as well and MAYBE Cafe orleans. So def hopefully if the days work out that would be awesome!!

We are thinking prob Monday at DL since we always have to go there first LOL so I was thinking that might be a day we do our cc lunch and I am not sure yet about a dinner but then Tues we are def going to do our MM at DL but then prob hop over to DCA so prob be there the rest of the day and I haven't thought yet about any ressies for that day but then prob Wed will run first thing and get WOC fast passes at DCA and then do DL most of the day so that might be a day for the bbq and then we will head back over to DCA that night to do WOC and then again MM on Thurs and then possibly back over to DCA on Thurs and then Fri we are taking at least the morning off and possibly all day as we are heading down to see some friends of ours and going to the beach. But then on Sat before we drive home I think we are going to do Surf's up. I know we want to eat dinner one night at PCH grill cuz the girls are dying to have that kitchen sink dessert LOL.

So those are what I have for now. We may throw a few other's in but that is what I am thinking at this point. We would like to get 1 1/2 to 2 days at DCA and 2 to 3 days at DL but that depends on how long we are gone on Friday and what time we arrive on Sunday! But anyway I am sure no matter what we can figure out something and worse case scenario we could always meet for a coke or a dole whip

I am not sure but I think maybe Michelle (Zoemakes5) might be coming sometime that week as well. So it would be fun if we all could meet when she is there as well. They had orig said they wanted to see us when we came down and then we had to cancel our orig trip but I haven't spoken with her since I rescheduled so not sure but as it gets closer we can coordinate. Fun times!! We can have our own little mini diva summer meet!!
