We are going Oct. 4 - 12, so will have two choices for the party: Sun. Oct. 5 or Fri. Oct. 10. I am assuming that Sun. would be less crowded than Fri. because it is a "school night", also Fri is Columbus Day weekend. Then I realized that Sun. is EE at MK. Will that affect the crowds at all?
I am really torn. I am reluctant to go on Sun. as it is the first day of our trip, and I don't want the rest of the trip to seem anticlimactic to my Dds. I would rather go Fri. which is at the end of our trip, but I'm afraid it may be really crowded with the holiday weekend. What would you do?

we are in a similar situation....our dates are contigent on the price of airfare. Luckily, there are 3 dates for MNSSHP that fall within the time frame for our trip (26 Sept-11 Oct) We are looking at 3,5,10 October. I am hoping for the 5th for us...I think the crowds will be lower on a Sunday than a Friday. We have been to the MNSSHP before, so the timing during the trip isn't an issue for us--it's the resting the day after :)

MrsMud....are you flying or driving? I would be hesitant to scedule something that is non-refundable on a travel day. 99% of the time everything goes smoothly....but there's always a chance that you could be delayed. We went the Friday of Columbus Day weekend last year--it was crowded, but we have seen much worse.

Good Luck in your choice!

We are actually arriving on Saturday, but will just spend that day at the hotel. What I meant was that Sunday is our first park day.
Also I failed to explain that MNSSHP will be our only time at WDW this trip. We are spending the rest of our time at US, IOA and SW. Hence, my worry about doing the party at the beginning of our trip, versus the end.

Same situation here Mrs. Mud -

We arrive on Saturday October 18 ( flying) and plan to just relax at the resort (Poly) on that day. Our first park day is Sunday October 19.

MNSSHP is being held twice while we are there: Sunday the 19th and Friday the 24th. I opted for Sunday the 19th even though that is our first park day. I didn't want to attend the party on a Friday since I thought it would be more crowded, and, we have to get up early to fly home the next day.

Have fun!

MrsMud I can certainly understand your concerns about the MNSSHP overshadowing the rest of the trip, though. IMO, it's a comparison of apples and oranges...The other activites you have planned sound great, too. An upside to going early in the vacation....you'll have LOTS of yummy candy to snack on all week :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: If it was me, I'd base my choice on whether or not I want to begin or end my vacation at the MK--personally, I like to end it there :) I don't think you can go wrong either way....Good Luck with your choice!

EmysMom I have to admit, it is difficult to get up and early and travel "the day after" we drove last year, and it was hard...we slept in as late as we could to comfortably make it out of the room before checkout time and we were still dragging, LOL We stayed at the party until closing and it was 1AM before we got the kids unwound to sleep....definitely something to consider.

I just think the Sunday nights are going to be less crowded all around....I may be naive, but that's just my thinking :)
