If price is not an issue, which cricut would you purchase? I think I would use it mostly for scrapbooking- not bulletin boards, cards, or school projects. I'm not finding much info on differences, other than size and being able to take it with you. I do go to crops frequently, but could I just take the expressions and lug it with the rest of my stuff? I almost always scrap 12x12.Thanks for any info.

The Expression is pretty big to be lugging around with you, but I don't go to crops so I don't know how big an issue it would be.

I have both machines and I use them primarily for 12 x 12 scrapping, although over the past couple of weeks I've been trying my hand at cardmaking, too. The Expression is great for 12 x 12 scrapping. I like using the "fit to page" option to cut something as big as it will fit on a 12 x 12 piece of paper. You can make some neat, close to full page embellishments that way. You can also cut things in 1/4 inch increments, and you can go smaller than 1 inch, while the original Cricut only goes as small as 1 inch.

So, I guess my vote is for the Expression, with the big disclaimer that I don't go to crops so I can't voice an opinion on the practicality of trying to take it with you.

I had the little bug and I now have the Expression and I would have to vote the Expression. I have taken it to a couple of crops and it wasn't a huge issue for me. I kept the original packaging it came in and I load it up and go! I haven't fully utilized all the features of the Expression, but I have to say that I love it! I think I have used the quantity feature more than anything.

I have the bug and can't imagine needing the Expression (notice I said needing, not wanting). However, L&TMom has both and uses both, even has brought the Expression to my crop without problems.

I know, I am absolutely no help, am I? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I have both too. I use the little bug a lot for quick things, I tend to cricut in my kitchen and I have very little counter space so the little bug works better for me. However the big bug has a lot of additional features like the fit to page, the centering feature (you can center a pic then cut out the shape), flip image, fill page (cuts out as many as will fit on the page) etc.

If I had to do it over and space allowed I would have just gotten the big bug. I would look at how much space you have to work with.

As for crops, I used to take 1 bag and now I'm up to 3 so I would probably take the big bug since I usually just drop my stuff at the door.

BTW Lisa, you don't need a big bug, you have me! LOL

I have both and if I was buying one today I would get the Expressions. I still do use my little bug too.

Thanks so much for all the replies! Today is my birthday, so I went and bought the expressions! On sale, they had 2 left. I came home and told each kid their part was $100. I was just kidding, and they thought it was funny. Now, I'm too overwhelmed to decide what to make, so I thought I'd say thanks to ya'll first. Everyone just left, and I'm about to get started!

Enjoy the big bug! I have both, and I am a 12x12 scrapper. I love that I can cut full page borders, and I love the flexibilty of the big bug. Not to mention how much I love cutting chipboard (Keep a separate blade for that). I would definitely go with the big bug, and now the software too. It's so much fun!
