We will be celebrating my son's 3rd bday this October and I am looking for a character meal to celebrate on his birthday. I don't plan on doing a park that day so I want a restaurant that is not in a park. I would love a place in which the characters come and sing Happy Birthday when the cake comes out. Please let me know what you think.

Chef Mickey's!!! I celebrated my birthday there and Donald came and brought me a free cupcake! They have a whole celebration thing where you wave your napkins. Plus it is the fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald & Pluto). And it's at the Contemporary!

If you go to CMs, don't depend on them to come over because it my dd's case, none of them did!

You were lucky.

We celebrated dd's bday last year there and all's she got was the cupcake and candle. No one else but us to sing happy birthday to her, not even our server hung around.:sad2: It was VERY disappointing. Won't go back there after that, had enough, it's over-priced and over-rated and so-so food. :(

You pay an extra $5 for the extra character. I actually felt bad for dd because it was a "bummer". They made more of a big deal of her birthday at the Plaza in MK (no characters) when we did lunch and at Olivias a few days after her birthday with an awesome dessert and the whole restaurant singing happy birthday. (thank goodness!) Oh, and it was much more affordable.;)

We celebrated our DD 3rd birthday at Chef Mickey's and she loved it. I had pre-ordered a Mickey Mouse cake for her that they brought out and then Mickey came over while we sang to her. The cake was sort of pricey but it was SO good :thumbsup2!

I know what you mean about the Plaza. It was noted on all of our ADR's that DD was celebrating her 5th birthday during our trip. The night we went to the Plaza, they made such a fuss over her. Everyone around us sang Happy Birthday and it was such an unexpected and wonderful surprise. It made up for the fact that , a couple of days prior, on the day we were actually celebrating her birthday at Akershus, with a cake ordered and everything, our server very unceremoniously plopped the cake on the table and walked away. No singing, no Princesses around, and no fuss. I think I would actually go back to the Plaza to celebrate a birthday next time!
