Which character dining?

I'm trying to decide which character dining experience to choose. It will just be adults, so we don't really have "favorites" but I want to do at least one dinner.

I'm traveling with me (a 36yo that thought she was a Disney nut until she found this place!), DH (who's a nut for me at Disney, but doesn't really care one way or the other about Disney. He'll good naturedly do whatever I want to do and enjoy it simply because I enjoy it. He will occasionally admit to having a good time in his own right) my best friend (a very recent Disney nut, thanks to me) my brother (40) and his girlfriend (who I've never been on vacation with and i'm afraid are "adults") and my parents (72 and 75 who against their better judgement can't help but get into the Disney experience when they are around me and my friend).

So, my family has a Disney history from when we were kids - used to camp at Fort Wilderness every year - but I think the castle many moons ago is the only character thing we've ever done. I'm leaning towards the Hoopdeedo Review since it sounds cute, but can anyone sway me to something better?

Thanks for your help. Even though we're not going until January, every time I think about it I become that commercial. You know... I'm too excited to sleep!!!

Cape May breakfast and CP breakfast (or dinner, both are great) are our favorite character meals.

Crystal Palace breakfast is my favourite. I have to admit, I don't really care for buffet lunches or dinners but got to love the puffed french toast with breakfast at CP :thumbsup2

Do you know if Crystal Palace breakfast is better than Playhouse Disney at Hollywood and Vine? I wonder if they have a different variety? Thanks

The breakfast at 1900 Park fare was great... and we had a lot of fun there too... we had kids with us and my daughter wanted to see Alice... but the Mad Hatter was just too funny with everyone... the food was great too...

We also do Crystal Palace on every trip, this time we did it for diner... it was fine, but i felt rushed... i liked it better for breakfast, very good.

Wow - no one had any interest in Hoop dee do, maybe I AM headed for the wrong event!

My dad used to love Crystal Palace. I wonder if anyone in my party has an aversion to Pooh (or do the classic Mickey, Minnie, Pluto attend there also?

I've never been to Play & Dine but I have heard the food there is pretty good. I would imagine the selection is pretty much standard in most places, with slight variations on maybe just a couple of buffet items (for example, CP has the puffed french toast) but I couldn't honestly compare as I've only done CP.

To the OP, if you are going after the rehab of 1900 Park Faire has finished, I would recommend that for dinner. The strawberry soup is lush :thumbsup2

I thought you were asking for recommendations for a character dinner, whereas HDD is more of a dinner show than a character experience.

No, the only characters at CP are Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet

Thanks for the info.

Do you remember if CP had an omlette station? I think I read that Playhouse Disney does not.

I was - I guess I thought Hoop dee do HAD characters. I am SOOO glad I asked!

Which characters are the at 1900 park fare meals? I'd be thrilled with Pooh (and therefore CP), but I continue to wonder about my "adult" brother. Maybe Micky/Minnie would work better for them.

1900 Park Fare is currently closed and the Cafe at GF is doing a pre-plated character breakfast and dinner in its place. We did the breakfast and did not like the food, the service, or the character interaction. I would recommend the Crystal Palace, also. We have been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is consistently good, and who can resist a hug from Eeyore and his pals?! Have fun!

My favorites are LTT (dinner) and CP (dinner). LTT has Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. Plus the food there is really good. CP has Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. It is a buffet, so something for everyone. Plus they have the BEST mashed potatoes.

Our favorite character meal last time we went was at Liberty Tree in MK!! We also did Chef Mickey but hated it....we were not seated in the "fun" area & all we could do was "listen" to all the fun the other section, behind the wall, was having!! My sons (ages 7 & 9 at the time) were really upset about that!!

We have been to Crystal Palace and Garden Grill. We love both of them. The food at the Garden Grill was suprisingly good, and the food at Crystal Palace is also very good. We are going in Dec and we are goin to try new character dining. We will be doing a 1900 Park Fare breakfast and Chef Mickey's.

We are doing in October 2007:

LTTavern- D

There are several more I want to do next time, but I also gotta visit Coral Reef and some others while we are there this time! So little time, if you dine all the time!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Have you did breakfast at Playhouse Disney before? Was wondering if the breakfast was about the same at Playhouse Disney and Crystal Palace?
Thanks:goodvibes

We really enjoyed Cinderella's Castle Lunch last year. Sounds like you have been before. You get the wonderful 5x7 picture with Cinderella included. The setting is beautiful and the food was good! The princesses come around to each table and say hello. It's a lot of fun! We were not rushed at all...even though it was busy!

Mickey's Backyard BBQ would be great for a group of adults. Outdoor/covered setting. Many character....and dancing.....very fun! It's at Fort Wilderness! It is seasonal, so I'm not sure if it is going on while you are at Disney World. If it is available...I vote for the BBQ. I hope someday my family will all go to Disney World as adults and remember all the fun we have had there. You are very lucky!

I have NOT eaten there before, but I have heard that they are similar buffet breakfasts! I know CP has a really good buffet! Hopefully, it will be as good, but my DS2 LOVES palyhouse Disney, so that is why we are eating there..even if it is NOT the best!

That's a good list. I have done them all except for O'hana. My goal is to do all the character dinings, and I just need 5 more (the B at YC, the B and D at GF, the B at Poly, and Mickey's Backyard BBQ).
