Which cars do I buy to go w/ Cars racetracks?

No one can answer my questions, so I thought I'd try the DIS. My son wants one of the many Cars racetracks for X-mas. But I can't figure out which cars go w/ any of the racetracks. They come in all different sizes & no one at the toy stories or online stores can answer these questions. The packages don't indicate which size cars fit on the racetrack. I don't want to just eyeball this, especially since the main place I can order these from is online. The stores don't have many of cars in stock.

Has anyone purchased these yet who can help me?

P.S. I'm also trying to figure out whether to get the Piston Cup 500 or the one that is shapped like a figure 8. Any suggestions?

My DH bought the Piston Cup for our 2yo DS a few months back. He loves it. Great father son bonding I think that it is a little loud, but it may be just me. Our DS has all of the CARS so far. The CARS that do not work are Mater, Red, Lizzie, Sarge, Guido, Luigi, Tractor, Fillmore, Snotrod, and Wingo. My DS thinks that Doc is the fastest though. Look at Target and Walmart, new waves of the CARS are coming out and are becoming more easily available. Good luck!

I can't figure out the size. Do you know which size they are? They have 3 different size die cast cars. I'm soooo confused. Any help would be appreciated?

No reviews w/ specific sizes. I think it's the 1:55 size die cast, but can't figure out which size are in the sets. Some of the individual cars are on amazon for $12-$15 per car. Can you see why I want to get this right? I can't things online but don't want to deal w/ returns if they're the wrong size.

The CARS die casts are the 1:55 scale, but not every single car will work on the Piston Cup Track since some cars are smaller or larger than the normal race cars like Lightning McQueen, The King, Chick Hicks, Leak Less, Dinoco McQueen, and Nitroade. The prices on amazon are just as worse as Ebay, and I highly recommend going to your local Wal-Mart or Target to get the die cast for about $3.29.

my dd just got the cars figure 8 track! it was easy to assemble and comes with 2 cars!

she loves it! I got it at toys r us!

Does anyone know of which other cars are good on the track? I'll look for king, chick, leak less, nitroade, McQ dinoco blue.

DVC Mary, yes, those CARS that you mentioned will work on the Piston Cup. Right now all of the CARS out work on the track except for the ones I originally listed. I think that the CARS for the figure 8 track are different. Not too sure though.

The Piston Cup race track is only $14.99 on the Disney Store website, which is a bargain considering it retails for $39.99 at the other big stores.
