Which Boardwalk restaurant would be closest to DHS?

I think the Big River brewing one is physically the closest Boardwalk restaurant, but I'm thinking you may mean the Boardwalk area, including Boardwalk, Beach and Yacht club, Swan and Dolphin?

If so, you can take a boat or walk to any of these resorts from HS.

If you take the boat from DHS, I believe the first stop is S/D, then Yacht Club, Boardwalk and finally EPCOT. DH and I have taken the boat to the Yacht Club, had a leisurely drink at the bar, then a nice lunch at Capt's Grille. It was a nice break from the park. (We have also done this from EPCOT.)

It is a nice walk from DHS to the Boardwalk, or as the others have said you can also take the boat to any of the Epcot area restaurants easily.
The Big River Grille, would be the first restaurant on the Boardwalk you would encounter when walking and ESPN the furthest away. But really, distance apart at this point is minimal.
All of these restaurants would be doable for dinner.

All the BW restaurants are pretty much clustered in the same area.
Big River, Kouzina, Flying Fish, ESPN
You can walk from DHS to BW, it may seem a long way after being in the park all day though.

True, if taking the boat you will stop at S & D first. There are a variety of options in the YC/BC area. (Beaches & Cream, Capt Galley, Yachtsmans Steakhouse and Cape May Cafe)

where do you catch the boat in the park? Is the walking path there too?

Exit DHS, stay to the left. You will see the boat dock, down on the left. Or, keep walking, with the canal on your left, parking lot on your right. You will come to signage that points you down the slope to the walkway to BW.

I guess it depends on what you mean when you say 'physically closest' restaurant. If you walk, and cut through the pool area, Flying Fish is going to be closest. If you take the boat, again, Flying Fish is closest. But, if you walk all the way around to the end of the walkway, and enter BW by Jellyrolls, the Big River Brew is going to be closest. ESPN is at the other end of the boardwalk area. It's really not a huge difference in walking time..maybe a minute or so.

What I actually want to do is eat dinner and then go back to DHS to see the OSbourne lights. We would be coming from Pop to eat dinner - so we would have to go to DHS - then the boardwalk - back to DSH. We would probably take the boat, just to minimize the walking.

Thanks for the responses so far :)

Taking the walking path, the fastest to arrive at, if you cut through the BW pool area, would be Flying Fish or Kouzzina or Big River Grill. ESPN is not much further. This is the fastest way to the Boardwalk.

The boat will stop at Swan/Dolphin first. S/D has plenty of good restaurants, but none of them are on the dining plan; so if you need the dining plan, get out at Swan/Dolphin and walk over to Boardwalk from there.

If you are really looking to minimize walking, the next stop after Swan/Dolphin (assuming you are looking for a dining plan restaurant) is the Yacht/Beach. The boat dock is not particularly close to the restaurants - so there would be walking involved. Over there you can attend Captain's Grille, Yachtsman, Beaches & Cream or Cape May.

Probably the least walking, if you can't do the Swan/Dolphin, would mean you wait until the boat reaches Boardwalk and then go to ESPN, Kouzzina, Flying Fish or Big River.

This is perfect - thanks!
