My family and I are going to disneyland on the 30th and the 1st, but we aren't sure which rides to hit first? Since I'm going to be hanging out iwth my cousin at Disneyland alone, we didn't know what rides to go on.

We're definetly planning on Haunted Mansion. Splash Mountain, Space Mountain (multiples times:D), Matterhorn, and Indiana Jones... But we have no clue how to tackle them all... Help?

Which ones are the most crowded? Which would you suggest getting a FP for? What are some rides we could go on to kill tiem while waiting for a FP ride?

-Thank you very much:p

Welcome, you've come to the right place!

You want to check out Hydroguy's tips compilation, which is a sticky thread at the top of this forum. It has all the info you could want on how to best see DL with the minimum time waiting in lines, even during the busiest part of summer! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483 There's some good guides to FP in there to help you get the most out of using the FP system, too.

Read through that and then come back with any questions you have! There's so many kind and helpful people on here. :disrocks:

I wish we had ridden Nemo's Submarine ride. My daughter really wanted to ride that one, but we'd get there early and the line would already be over an hour's wait. Should've gotten there earlier, since they don't have fast pass for this ride.

well ive never gone when its really busy but im sure it wont be too hard to ride everything(hopefully). For a fast pass, I would suggest indiana jones splash mountain, I think those are the longest ride. When waiting for a FP ride, you may as well explore the winnie he pooh type rides. They are not as childish as you think, and if they are, who cares, they are still fun!

Rides to hit first &/or get FPs for: SM & Indy are the 2 major ones. Then I would suggest Splash. The line is short in the mornings and if you don't bring a change of clothes, you can easily dry off during the day. If you're a Peter Pan fan, I'd reccomend this in the morning bc the line never dies down.

Waiting to use youy FP: I highly reccomed to check back their time board to see how long the waits are for the popular rides. Pooh is always short, but since it's summer, it might average from 7-10 min (max). When it's really short, it's about 3 min. long. JC is another one that is usually short, but again since it's the summer, it could go up to 15 min. long but it's usually about 5 min. long. POTC & HM are good rides to go on, the waits also vary, but are usually pretty good. Seeing the different shows and attractions are also a good way to use up your time waiting to use your FPs.

Other: I imagine that Matterhorn will be really crowded during the day, so check it in the morning &/or night for shorter lines. Both sides of the lines aren't open all the time and if that happens, you can always choose which side you want once you hit the middle. I know Roger Rabbit isn't on your must do list, but if you want to ride it, I would get a FP for it bc it's usually long. I'd also get a FP for BTM, and from what I'd experienced, there are plenty of FPs even later in the day. Everyone thinks that Nemo should be done in the morning to avoid lines, but going sometime right before closing is best bc lines aren't long and you're guaranteed on riding it.

Out of those rides ride Matterhorn early after getting a Space FP. Also use FP for Splash and Indy. HM you can get by with riding later in the day because the line moves very quickly. Other rides you should ride early if you want because their lines move very slowly and don't have FP: Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Nemo if you are on the first couple subs, otherwise don't ride Nemo until the evening.

If it were me, I'd try Nemo first, then the Matterhorn. Then head over to Adventureland for Indiana Jones. Nemo and Matterhorn have long lines and no fast pass, so especially with Nemo, you really have to do it early in the morning to avoid the long lines. At least with the Mattterhorn, if they are running both sides, that does help with the line. Also, you can fast pass Indiana and that helps as well.

Have a great time.

Get in line for Nemo first - even a 30 minute delay from park opening time can cost you twice that in line time. We went on Friday - and entered Nemo about 30 min after opening and the wait was 1 hour. Sometimes you can have someone hold the spot in the Nemo ride and the rest of the party hop on Matterhorn - especially early in the AM.

Second - go to DCA and get in line for Toy Story - the lines have been 2 hours long later in the day.

Then plan the rest of your day based on what you want to ride.

The two most popular rides right now are Nemo and Toy Story. Have fun!

Thanks for all your suggestions, but they all involve the Nemo ride.

We aren't interested in that ride... The rides we really want are Matterhorn, splash mt, space mt, indiana jones, and big thunder valley mt.

we aren't interested in watching the parades or peter pan or Nemo. :D

p.s. we aren't going to DCA

So are you planning on just riding those 5 rides over and over? There are some other really great things to experience in the park and you do have 2 days.

Fantasyland first, Matterhorn, snag a fast pass for either Space or Indy. I read someplace that Autopia apparently is "disconnected " from the system now, so snag a FP for that too when you are near Space

oops that was horribly phrased... I am definetlygoing on other rides, but I really want to get on those rides...

We also plan to squeeze in lots of fantasyland rides :D

Finding Nemo, you really need to hit this soon as the park opens.

and if your staying on disney property you can get in the park early.
(doesn't mean your gonna ride anything) but you'll want to get to the ropes right infront of the castle, so you can atleast be one of the first people on the line for nemo, after nemo, get a fast past for Indiana Jones, or if you don't want to run across the park, go do Buzz light year. (after getting a fast past for Space mountain)

Buzz line should only be around 15-20 mins that time of day.

Good luck take pictures and post us some. :)

Like others have suggested, be sure to read the HydroGuy Tips Compilation at the top of this forum. :thumbsup2

Since you mentioned Fantasyland rides... :goodvibes

Monday is not a Magic Morning, so the lines in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Monday will be relatively shorter than the same time on Tuesday (Tuesday is a Magic Morning). I would go to FL early on Monday.

Since the rides in FL don’t have FastPass, I agree with the others: you should arrive at the DL entrance at least 30 minutes early and then go straight to FL to first ride the Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and the Mad Tea Party (Tea Cups). (In addition to Peter Pan, I'm presuming that you also don't want to ride Dumbo. ;)) (You might want to get a FP for Space Mtn before you get to FL, or after you ride the above 4 rides.)

Like others have said, in general I would try to use a FastPass for all of the FP rides. I think the lines for Splash Mtn and Space Mtn can be 60 to 90 minutes (or longer) in the summer time, so I would definitely use a FP for them. While you're collecting FastPasses (to use later in the day), you could see Star Tours, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, etc. Some of the "anytime" attractions are the DL Railroad, Mark Twain Riverboat, Main Street Cinema, Opera House ("DL - The First 50 Magical Years"), etc.

In the following thread, HydroGuy lists the best order to get FPs:
www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=12622132&postcount=4

Assume DL opens at 8AM - this is the order you should get your FastPasses in an ideal world. Modify this is as necessary to fit your group, location in the parks, and available time.

1. Space Mtn (get FP @8:10AM - next FP time will be 8:55AM - you can use this FP anytime after 8:55AM)
2. Splash Mtn (get FP @8:55AM - next FP time will be 9:40AM - you can use this FP anytime after 9:40AM)
3. Indiana Jones (get FP @9:40AM - next FP time will be about 10:30AM - you can use this FP anytime after 10:30AM)
4. Buzz Lightyear (get FP @10:30AM - next FP time will be about 11:15AM - you can use this FP anytime after 11:15AM)
5. Big Thunder Mtn RR (get FP @11:15AM - next FP time will be about 12:00PM - you can use this FP anytime after 12:00PM)
6. Autopia (get FP @12:00PM - next FP time will be about 12:45PM - you can use this FP anytime after about 12:45PM)

It really is not that hard to do the above by 2PM as long as you start at 8AM. If you really want to focus as above, you can get one of everything by lunch.

There is one other FP opportunity at DL: Roger Rabbit. Roger Rabbit is not connected to the DL FP system and you can get one anytime you want without conflict with other DL FastPasses.

Further, I no longer get FPs for Autopia after realizing the FP return line can be a 25 minute wait. If I only had one day at DL, I would get an Autopia FP. But if I had multiple days, I would plan Autopia for an early morning thru the standby line.

HTH :earsboy:

We like to change up our First Ride of the Day for each morning we are there. One day we will do Space Mtn first, another day we will do Peter Pan first then Dumbo (We have little ones in our group). Fantasyland fills up extremely quickly - Casey Jr. takes FOREVER for a short line and doesn't open as early as the other rides - if you want to catch it, watch for it to open up on your Fantasyland morning and jump in line. BTMRR never seems to take too long. Buzz line is VERY long through the day so we jump on that right after Space Mtn. Splash was always lucky for us at lunch time.
Definitely get FP when and where you can! And anything you miss this trip, you can make up for on the next one!
