Which are the best adjoining category 10 cabins on the Magic?

I need to book 2 adjoining category 10 cabins for our next cruise (either 4/26/03 or 5/10/03) because we have 3 kids (although our youngest will still be less than 2 yrs. old).

I was wondering whether there is a consensus on which cat 10 cabins are the most desirable ones and why? I'm not interested in the "secret porthole" ones because (this may be wierd to some folks) we actually prefer true inside cabins. This is also why we're not considering a cat 4.

Any advice or experience you can share will be greatly appreciated.

I'd go for 7005/7007 or 7505/7507 because they're the closest to the upper decks. Or 1051/1053. Convenient to the Forward Tender Lobby... convenient to the Midships stairs/elevators. You shouldn't have any problems getting an elevator from Deck 1 since nobody will be on the elevator already coming up from lower decks. Also, 1051/1053 will probably have less movement than any other location onboard.

the best cat 10 adjoiners would have to be 5022-24 or 5522-24 you get a porthole and with kids you will be on the same deck as the kids clubs.

While the secret porthole rooms are a great deal, MFan specifically said she DID NOT want those rooms. She said she wanted "true inside" rooms.

That said, I would think Dave's recommendation is a sound one - I prefer a higher deck for easy access to dining, kids clubs etc. but deck 1 is also nice for easy elevator access.

Thanks to all for sharing your advice. I will check with my travel agents on Monday to see what are still available for our preferred sail dates. We'd probably prefer the upper decks; but, given the limited number of cat 10 cabins there, we may have to settle for deck 1 or 2. My primary concern would then be noise from the engines and other mechanical equipment.

Has anyone stayed on deck 1 or 2 before? Which cabin? How were the noises? Loud? Frequent? Constant? Which would be the best cabins on these 2 decks?

Do all categories have adjoining rooms? How are these set up? I envision the layout of the staterooms would be different to compensate for the door leading between the two. Do you lose space as a result?

No, only Categories 3 - 10.

The connecting doors work like connecting doors in hotels. But there is no loss of space... rooms without connecting doors simply have blank wall at that location.

We stayed on Deck 8 several times and also stayed on Deck 1 in a Cat 9 midship. Loved both locations. Thought I would hate being on such a low deck but it was sooooo convenient to getting on and off the ship, plus the elevator seemd to be always waiting for us!!!

We've done Cat 10 Insides on both Decks 1 & 2 and prefer Deck 2. This is because it is a little easier to get around the ship with full access to ALL the elevators.

On Deck 1, you are supposedly limited to the Midship elevators. (Although there is access to the Forward elevators and tender lobby through a door marked "Please access tender lobby using Deck 2 stairway" or something to that effect.

This past Easter, we sailed on the Wonder and had connecting Cabins 1075/1077. The cabins down this hall dead-end into the crew's quarters. It is generally quiet without that much traffic and we didn't notice any engine noise at all. But we did have to think about how we wanted to get someplace.

Try checking into getting something on Deck 2 Mid/Aft. This way you can use the Aft elevator to go straight up to Topsiders (Buffet/deck 9), Buena Vista Theater (movies/deck 5), or the stairs to Animators (deck 4), Parrot (deck 3), and the Castaway tender (deck 1 aft).

We've stayed in before in 2601 and liked it very much. In fact we've it rebooked again for the Magic next year. You will enjoy DCL's Inside Cabins. The interior space is exactly the same as the Cats 5 through 9 (excepting additional space provided by the Verandah). We were never in the room that much and having total darkness to nap/sleep in is fantastic! There is also much less motion on the lower decks/aft (IMHO).

Thanks, Steve & MJ! Hearing first-hand experiences from you made me much less concerned than before.

One of the main reason we prefer inside cabin is its total darkness. With 3 kids (DS 5, DD 3, DD 2) traveling with us, we need to take advantage of anything that can help with their nap/sleep.

We've stayed in 2094/2096 and didn't notice any exceptional noises (except the yelling next door ). This year we will be in 2075/2077 (cat. 10). We LOVE the lower decks. We feel there is less movement and quieter. Will probably always stay "down there" as long as the kids are little (10,6,4,3). We've never stayed in an inside cabin before so ....... I guess we'll see if we like it.

On our first Disney cruise we stayed in 2075 and 2077. We were prefectly happy with the location of the rooms. We had no problems with noise. In March we stayed in 2056 and 2958 they were not connecting but next door. I have to say it wasn't as convienent but I loved the port hole. These rooms were mid ship right by the elevators. We again didn't have any problems with noise.
