Hi all!

:confused3

I just need some opinions on which airline I should book my tickets to FL with? It would be US Air or Air Tran. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

I guess that depends -- are you planning on depating from Pittsburgh or Philly, or (?) If price is the same and you were leaving from PIT, I'd probably choose USAir. THere's a benefit of flying into a hub -- if something should be delayed, there's a better chance of hopping a later flight or finding a replacement aircraft and you're not that bad off. Otherwise, I'd let price be my guide as both airlines seem to do a pretty good job.

I've used both and liked both. US Air has more non stop flight than AirTran. ALso is Usair fares go down they will give you a credit towards a future ticket, whereas with Airtran if their prices do down after you book, too bad.
Have you considered Southwest. I have not flown them to Orlando but we've used them to fly to Ft Lauderdale and really liked flying with them.

I believe Airtran is all stop overs..... go for USAir if same price.

I fly from Phila also, and US Air has a better selection of non stop flights, Airtran does have some. You can also consider SouthWest, they do not have as many flights at US Air, but have a good selection of times and generally have some great rates. SW also has the DING program which notifies you of their periodic sales.

You can pick your seats when you make your reservation with USAirways. Unless you book with a travel agent with AirTran you can't pick your seat until the 24 hour mark before your flight.

not ture, AIRTRAN usually has 4 non-stop flights out of Philly. We've been using them for 3 yrs now and always have a non-stop flight. We are using them on Oct 6 again non-stop. They have all newer planes then USAIR. You can check-in 24hrs before flight on-line and pick seats.

I thought Air Tran was great out of PHL. We had non stop service (they usually have 4 non stop flights a day). USAir is fine too, we have flown them many times. I would go with whoever has the cheapest flight for the times you want.

We are trying SW this trip for our departure leg, so we will see how that goes. SW doesn't offer late return flights though from Orlando, which is why we are flying Airtran coming back (gotta love the 8:25 pm flight out of MCO).

Just be aware thought that Airtran is notorious for changing flight times (sometimes significantly) so if you book way in advance, that could be an issue. We have never had USAir change a flight by more than a few minutes.

Probably doesn't matter. Pick whichever flights offer you the best combination of price and convenience with respect to your vacation plans. The one sticking point for us would be the 24-hour seats thing (I'm used to picking my seats at the 90-day mark for leisure trips) but even that I could live with.
