My son and I are staying 5 nights at Yacht Club. We plan to do 5 or 6 hours in the parks 4 days and a water park or resort 1 day. We also plan to do DTD & DQ one afternoon.

What two parks would your family not miss?!?

I'm leaning towards Epcot & MK for whole days and an evening at MGM since we have PS for PTC there one evening.

Thanks
Kathy

All of my trips are solo but I would never miss MGM and Epcot. I don't have a 9 year old, though.

I'll just bump this back to page one for you so that our veterans with children can offer advice.

Kathy - i myself have a 9yo son and i think if i were taking him alone and only were going to hit two parks seriously it would be uisng the plan you described.

full day at MK - ds loves this park - so many things to ride and do that he loves.

full day at Epcot - ds is still at the age where he loves doing some of the interactive things in FW and likes the rides and attractions there. He also is just young enough that he likes doing the mask thing in WS. He would shoot me if we visited WDW without a stop at Germany for the buffet and the show. He drools over chicken schinitzel. (sp?)

He likes MGM, but only a few things that are must see for him. (this is always a short day for us.) He digs - RNR, ToT, WWTBAM, Muppets3D, and the Singing in the Rain umbrella. (not sure if that is still there, couldn't find it last week when we were there.)

I think your plans are good ones from the point of view of this mother of a 9 year old boy.

good luck and have a great time.

When DS was 9 he enjoyed
MK - Buzz, BTMR
AK - animals of course
MGM - 1st time RnR
EpCot - Test track, Japan

AK and MK are not to be missed for a 9yr old. We're on our fourth trip this year and DS (who will be 9 in 2 wks) would not dream of missing either park. Or maybe its me who wouldn't dream of missing them. Either way those would be my choices. ;)

Have a great trip!

Magic Kingdom as it encapsulates the Disney spirit to a T and Animal Kingdom just because it is an experience in itself! I have a mental age of about 9 anyway, and these are very much what I would recommend :D

EPCOT is more laid back and perhaps enjoyed by adults more.

MGM is a teenager park... possibly a little restricting to a 9yo?

with a 9 yr old I'd do AK and MK...imo mgm is just so so and wouldn't go for a whole day if my time was limited. I love epcot but think a 9 yr old would like MK better and our fav.is AK. it is such a different park...we loved the "feel" of the lands, the musicians, just so different than what we experience in our daily life in the US

At 9, my DS's favorite parks were MK and Epcot. His least favorite was MGM. With 4 days, I would hit all four parks at least lighty. When DS was 9 we spent a whole day at AK too, but you could at least see some of it in 1/2 day. I would not plan too much time at DD except for DQ which he will love. DD is mostly shopping and when time is limited, not a high priority for a 9 yr old. Just enjoy the time you have and remember you can not do it all.
