Where's your worst resort stay...

CSR. We checked in and were given a room admist a HUGE youth group, found out from the front desk there was over a 1000 teens from the group there, it was crazy. Teens everywhere, no adults in sight, they were literally hanging from the railings at the resort & jumping in the quiet pool. My kids were only 2 & 6 and they were scared and upset. We did complain and they offered us a room in a different location, we thought we'd head to the pool for awhile while we waited for the room change but the pool was packed with wall to wall teens. They were even in the kiddie pool, the lifeguards seemed overwhelmed and couldn't even control the kids.

So we went back down and told them to forget the room location change and we called CRO and found a room at the CR instead. While we were leaving the police(not Disney security) were pulling into the resort, not sure what happened after that because we didn't look back. ;)

I had a horrible stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We stayed in three different rooms in five nights! Our problems ranged from broken luggage, and excessive noise to bad mattresses and a **** roach in the room. I usually don't complain, but we had so many things go wrong in this stay that I had to complain. Just awful.

I'm happy to say I don't think I've had what I would consider a bad stay at any Disney resort so far. When we did have a minor problem it was always taken care of right away.

This was not Disney's fault but you asked for worst experiences:

As a child, we had just arrived and set up camp at FW. Late at night a CM knocked at our camper door and told my parents the office had recieved a message : my grandfather had had a heart attack back home. :( That night my parents stayed up the whole night booking a flight for my mother to take home the next morning. My dad (who was also coming down with the flu) dropped my mom and baby sister off at the airport and took my brother and I for a day in the MK. Then the next day drove us for the long 1200+mi trek home. (to this day I still can't eat a piece of bologna, the only thing my dad was in a state to "cook")

After that experience, so long as everyone is healthy, even something like a hurricane makes for a great Disney trip! :)

wow disney must run like clock work only 5 including my diappoiments
that an amazing %

hahahahha :rotfl:
well mine was the CR with my gram forever ago we had this awesome room as my gramos worked for kodak we got into all these special lounges and never waited in line
awesome
but we had some serious issues at the CR and my gram isnt someone to make mad
the room was messy and mousekeeping was bad
she was pi**ed
i will never forget it

for me it was Poly conceirge, I just disliked the whole experiance there. I was to tall for the shower head. I did not like the decor...I found it to tacky for MY taste. I got sick there due to allergies,(this was the bad one..had to go to hospital) to the point they had to move us to the BWV's. I paid of course...so they didn't do anything. just transfered funds....never again!!

Fort Wilderness was my worst Disney hotel experience. The pool was so filthy we couldn't swim in it. The dryers were broken and we were up until 2:00 a.m. looking for a place to dry out clothes.

Disney management did not offer anything. I asked for a comp meal at Trails End, and a discount on a future Disney stay. The meal was easy. I forgot all about the discount on a future Disney stay until one day I receive a letter in the mail for Disney corporate. To make a very long story short, we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, Concierge Level last summer (including UPH for 2 adults, 2 juniors) for $1600.

It made up for our terrible time at Ft. Wilderness, but spoiled us for any future visit that does not include concierge.

August 04'

1. Patio door broken, would not open had to get maintaneous to fix. Lock stuck and would not slide open but for about 3 inches.
2. Desk (futuristic) lamp totally busted on/off switch called (few lights in room they brought us a new one.
3. Got "locked in" our room one day? the door lock would not work (good thing we didn't have an emergency). could not get out, they sent up maintaneous, he said it was total stipped? Needed new lock, then noticed the door dragged on the floor and said I better rehang the door too or I will be back tommorow.
4.Cockroach the size of a fifty cent piece walked across tv one nite as we were watching tv after the park closed about 12am. I caught it, they argued (front desk) with me on the phone said the "bug guy" will be up, but its not a cockroach, he came up and said where did you see it, I told him I got a glass covered over him on the floor there he is, "by golly that's one big cockroach"!
5.Small sink by commode area never cleaned after 1 week very dusty I wrote clean me in it and it never was even wiped off. We where there 2 1/2 weeks.

We aren't even going to discuss: paint chipping off, dirty worn carpet, etc..
This was 10th floor, center building, magic kingdom view. Whoever got this room when we checked out, got a perfectly functioning great room. ;) Wish the people before us would of reported some of these problems or housekeeping.

Glad they are getting re-done! CR has always been on our favorite list, But we have not returned until a complete re-do or update is completed. The manager / front desk / maintaneous manager where all aware of our room problems yet not one of them contacted us, sent a card, voice mail message, etc. of apology about our problems. I went down to the front desk upon check out and asked if they where aware of what was going on in our room, and "it was in the computer" I asked you don't acknowledge when things go wrong like that? I could see 1 or even 2 of the incidents being over looked but all of them? But, I would of at the VERY least expected a voice mail "sorry". So I know we are not alone, and at least they cared about there product at least as much as we do.

We did meet some very exceptional cm's from "behind" the scenes. The maintaeous crew's where professional, friendly, prompt for the most part. The "bug guy" was really cool. told us that if there are mosquito's in your room they can come and vacum them up? That sounded interesting. He was a real character. pirate: We got to see wdw in a different light, made a trip different than we had planned. Lots of waiting for so and so to come back. Or Can't get into room right now because of work being done.

We could of switched rooms but we where only offered non- magic kingdom views. We also didn't foresee the door problems a few days after we got the patio door fixed and a new lamp. The roach was several days after the door problems. I do realize that the resort is not really responsible for the roach and it could of "walked" in by himself or with another guest. So our problems where spread out througout the 2 1/2 weeks.

Resolution: No letter, no call but my final payment had 1 nite deducted from the price owed.

Mky princess: Looking forward to returning the "new" CR tower!

We've never let any problems ruin our WDW vacations but we didn't have a very magical stay at Wilderness Lodge. Right from the start it went kind of sour. We had a very nasty CM check us in. She not only didn't give us our only request of connecting rooms ( 2 teens along. One that had to take medication in the middle of the night), she was going to downgrade us from the courtyard view we had paid for to woods view. When I asked if we would receive a refund she told me it would come in the mail in a few weeks. I became so upset (we had dreamed of staying there for so long) I couldn't keep the tears from coming. Another CM overhearing called the manager to come out. She was really nice and gave us two connecting courtyard view rooms that were beautiful. Two nights later someone unlocked the door to our room in the middle of the night. Luckily I always use the night latch. My DH called the front desk immediately to see why someone would do this and they took a very laid back attitude with him. No apology or any attempt to find out why this happened. On our last day we returned from the MK in the evening to find our door ajar. Apparently housekeeping had forgot to close and lock it. What else, right? LoL Needless to say we have not returned to WL since. We have been talking about giving it another try though. It's such a gorgeous resort and so many people report terrific stays there. Maybe next time things will be different.

We came back in the middle of the day to find our patio door ajar. Mind you we were on the 1st floor and still had our do not disturb sign on our door. Add to the fact that Dh has obsessive compulsive dissorder and checks EVERYTHING 4 times before we walk out the door. We never did get an explination.

We arrived at FW planning to check in and head straight to the Magic Kingdom for E Night. Unfortunately, it started storming about the time we got inside and the computer system went down. There were only a couple people there and they couldn't figure out what to do. After what seemed like forever, they finally gave us a pass key to get into our cabin (I'm assuming it probably would have gotten us into all the other cabins, too) and said someone would bring down passes for everyone by 7 a.m. the next morning. They said they couldn't sell us E Night tickets and couldn't find out whether ENight had been cancelled b/c of the rain. We had just driven 560 miles and had not had dinner, so we thought we would go to the Trading Post and get something -- turned out it closes earlier than other resort stores. We ended up going to the Contemporary food court and calling it a night. The next morning we got up bright and early to go to EMH, but the passes had not been delivered as promised. I called repeatedly but could not get an answer and finally drove down and got them. This is not like running down to the desk in a regular hotel, so we were late to EMH. The only apology I got was when I called on check-out day about the bill not being delivered.

I didn't ask for anything, but I did describe the problems on one of those email surveys Disney sometimes sends -- didn't get a response.

We haven't had any problems, just wanted to comment on the bugs. Didn't you realize that those roaches (or palmetto bugs, in the South), were your welcoming committee? Good thing they didn't bring the entire family along for the welcome. They aren't signs of poor housekeeping in the South, just an open access to the room from the outside as some point in the day or night.

Our stay at WL got off to a rocky start. The lady that checked us in was a cranky thing. It was only noon. No upgrades, our room was over looking the trash area, our sliding glass door was broke and wouldnt close, the bulbs in the lamps were burnt out. There was a really gross stain on one of the comforters. The floor hadnt been vaccumed and the bathroom wasnt real clean. We were very disapointed as we were sooo excited to stay there.

While we really haven't had any experiences that would ruin our vacation, I have been disappointed in mousekeeping during our past two stays. On our last stay in OKW - the area around the bottom of the toilet was disgusting and the counters had been wiped down rather badly. Also upon opening the curtains we noticed dead bugs, a lot of dust and so on. They windows, ledges and blinds could really use a major cleaning. :earboy2:

At our stay in November, our room at POFQ was not thoroughly cleaned either. We found several hairs on the bathroom floor and in the tub. The carpet needed a good vacuum. There were cheerios and other things including a slipper under the bedskirt and the beds themselves were all out of whack. We had to re-center the boards on under the mattresses and straighten out the dust ruffle or the kids would have surely hurt themselves from the wood sticking out.

Other than that, we have been happy with our stays on property. We have had much worse experiences off property - like dirty sheets, boogers on the wall in a kiddie bunk bed area and so on. Never again - lol! :rotfl2:

You have to wonder about the last guests who stayed in the room when you get one like this. They didn't even realize they were missing a slipper? What did they do in the room and how bad did it look BEFORE the housekeepers cleaned it up?

WL for us

We had a family of spiders on our balcony along with spider eggs so of course I didn't want to step foot on the balcony. There honestly were spiders and webs everywhere. We must have called the front desk about 5 times and went down there as well and we were always told someone would come up, but they never did. After 3 days we were moving to the AKL so we didn't even bother to keep calling, it was useless.

Ther bathroom was very dirty and our sheets had 2 red spots on them that looked very much like blood, we insisted that Mousekeeping give us new sheets which they did.

POR. no question.

They checked us into a room that wasnt made up. We called to let them know and said that we'd be gone for the rest of the evening, so they could just come make up the room while we were out. When we got back at midnight, no-one had come. We asked to be moved to a room that was ready and they moved us into a room next to the AC or pool pumps or something really noisy. So we asked to be moved again, and we put under the staircase in our 'upgraded" waterview room.

The day of check out, we were sleeping in (no kids) and at 8am a cleaning lady started banging on the door and wouldnt go away until we came to the door, where she handed us our bill which is usually slipped under the door or hung on the knob.

I called and left messaged for the manager and never heard back.

I had a really bad stay at the Beach Club a few years ago. When we arrived at the front desk they informed us that they had overbooked and would we like to go to the GF. Ordinarily we would have jumped at that offer but we had stayed at the GF already and the kids were really looking forward to staying at the beach club because of the pool area. They gave us a small room and that night while I was taking my shower I noticed the wallpaper peeling off the wall. I peeled it back and there was black mold all the way up the wall. The room reeked of mold. The kids were already asleep and it was too late to get another room. The next morning I was so sick and went down to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager and they said he was in a meeting (lie). The cm said that there was mold everywhere in Florida and didn't see what my problem was. She was arguing with me and telling me that mold can't help but grow in this environment. I asked for another room and she said no rooms were available and then I asked her if she could help me get another room somewhere else on disney property. She pointed to a pay phone on the wall. I couldn't believe it! When I called the disney reservation number and told them what had happened they were in disbelief and couldn't believe how rude the cm was to me. They were so kind on the phone and got me a room at the gf. I ended up getting bronchitis. I couldn't enjoy the rest of my trip. When I got home I called the manager and they gave me a credit of that one night. I remember walking into the lobby of the BC and it smelled really musty but I tried to ignore it but after we got to the room I knew they have a serious case of mold issues. This was a few years ago and I am sure they have redone the hotel by now. I have been going to disney ever since it opened and the treatment that you used to receive was first class. I remember that you treated almost like royalty. If we stayed offsite my friend and I would always joke that this hotel sure isn't up to disney standards. I believe the disney magic at their hotels starting going downhill about 1990 and on. It is still there sometimes with certain cms and at certain hotels but it used to be consistent at every hotel and you could trust the disney name to make everything right. I believe Eisner had a lot to do with it by cutting disney standards because of the almighty dollar. Sorry......didn't mean to ramble!

In all our WDW trips we've only had 2 bad stays. At the ASSp...it was overrun by unsuprvised teenagers. They were hanging off the railings, blaring boomboxes late into the night, throwing things down from the balconies..awful!! I've traveled with my own kids as teens with AAU basketball teams and have never seen anything this out of control. After 3 nights I couldn't take any more and complained to WDW guest relations (complaints to ASSP did nothing). We switched to CSR and they sent a large basket with snacks, sodas, and balloons to our room as well as paid for lunch at any Epcot restaurant of our choice.
Our other bad trip was to BCV as DVC owners. The resort had just opened yet many things in our room were broken. There was a pile of trash in our hallway that grew larger by the day. Each day we stopped at the front desk and told them about the trash but it was never cleaned up. Finally, DH took a digital picture of the trash heap and brought it to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager...he finally had it cleaned!! That trip was so bad we actually got our points refunded. Just these 2 bad stays out of 50 or more...not so bad!
