Where's Tink????

My niece called me this evening from MK. She said that when they saw Wishes earlier in the week, Tink did not fly, and that they had omitted the narrative that referred to her . Today when they went into MK they could see that her wire is not even there any more. Does anyone know what's up? Her DD (3) was almost in tears. I was really surprised since they went to the trouble to include her in Wishes when it changed from Fantasy In The Sky, I assumed because she is such a popular part of the nighttime fireworks show. We all look forward to seeing herand will be very disappointed if she's not there when we go next month.

We just got back and saw Wishes this past Wed night and Tink was not there. I also assummed it was due to the weather but I never really asked. I had a VERY tired dd at that point and we needed to go!

They probably took the wire down for the hurricanes and may have been waiting to see what happens with Ivan before putting them back up. I would imagine that the hurricane would wreak havoc with the wire. Not just thepotential for it breaking and the ensuing damage it would cause but also the oil on the wire. I was at DLK once when Tink had to be pulled in near the end of the flight. She was going VERY slow and came to a stop about 3/4 of the way down. They definately oiled that thing up good because a couple of nights later she was flying like a race car.

I know that if there are thunderstorms in the area, Tink won't fly.

I'm sure it was due to weather. We didn't get to see Tink fly on our last trip due to weather. I made the mistake of telling my boys that we would see Tink fly, and she didn't. I was more bummed then they were though. LOL But in the future I will not mention it until it's actually happening!!

We were there in August and didn't see Tink then either. I thought it was due to the weather. We were only having some light showers and I was expecting her to fly but never saw her. My 5 yr old dd was heartbroken.

We are getting rain almost every day and rain=no Tink. I haven't been to MK in the last week or so, but Tink flew the last time I was there so I don't think it is a permanent change.

Oh no! Thank goodness I did not tell dd4. I was saving it as a surprise!! Any chance it'll be back up by the end of the month? Or is there still too much rain then?

I'm afraid you're going to have to wait until you get there to find out. They may not even know ahead of time whether or not she's going to fly. It all depends on the weather at the time.

Good Lord, I was never so scared in my life watching Tink Fly.

During the show last week, we were told she wasn't flying because of the weather. DS kept looking for her, saying "the hurricane's over Tink, you don't have to be afraid anymore"...precious!

We saw Wishes 4times during our 2wks @ WDW (aug27-sept10) and she only flew once...the night she did fly Spectromagic was almost cancelled due to lighting in the area. But the other 3 times when she didnt fly the weather was fine

I am going tonight. Will post if the line is back up. We will probably be on rides during Wishes so I don't know if we will see Tink anyway.

There is another possibility. I'd imagine that is not a CM position that is easily filled. You not only have to have a daredevil, but she has to meet certain requirements. If the person scheduled to work calls off, I don't know how easy it is to get a replacement. And with the hurricane clean-up I'm sure they're short staffed in general right now.

No tink on 9/12 either. Our friend's kids were disappointed, but we told them that Tink was visiting Disneyland, that the folks there were 'borrowing' her for their fireworks show.

I was there last night and the line was up. I don't know if Tink flew because we were on rides, but at least it was possible.

When we were there 7/4- 7/10 I saw Wishes 3 times and she didn't fly during any of the shows. Only one night was the weather questionable. I found it to be rather odd, especially now reading that she is rarely flying. It makes sense that they would take down the wire during the hurricanes, so it will be interesting to see how often she flys this fall.

We were there in early May and no tink. I have been wondering about it ever since. Pehaps one of our CM friends on the site can shed some light on the real reason.
