My DS just LOVES Donald Duck.

I was planning on a Character Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern b/c "he" and Daisy are supposed to be there (allears), but after reading a few other reviews and postings, I'm concerned that "the Duck" is not going to be there.

I know there's always Donalds Breakfastasaurus, but I've seen nothing but bad reviews about that.

Any suggestions?

Hi - we loved Donald's Breakfastouras (sp??). It was one of our favorites. It has great interaction with the characters. We had multiple visits at our table by all of the characters. It was Mickey, Donald, Goofy and I forget who else. I really would recommend it.

Really?? I've heard/read nothing but negative comments about it, and how crowded it is, lack of attention, etc. What time of year did you go, and what time in the morning?

Thanks,
Mrs. PB

not sure why donald's breakfastasaurous gets bad reviews 'cause our family loves it... and has always enjoyed it... it's become a "must do" for us (we're also big duck fans!) but duck aside, the food has always been above average, the character interaction has always been excellent... lots of time spent w/each... the service has been above average always, w/the servers offering their own brand of humor and entertainment... personally, i recommend it! (just a side note, and i don't know if it makes a difference, but we've always booked a late ps, at "brunchtime," rather than first thing and by the time we're done eating, we have the whole place and all the characters to ourselves!)

don't know where else donald appears, but for your ds' sake, i hope you find him!

We did not like Donald's when we went. I think it was in 2001. That being said, we are giving it another shot in April.

I've read a lot of good comments about it, as well as some bad.

BTW- We have always seen Donald in the lobby of Chef Mickey's, and he also participates in the napkin dance. I don't think he is guaranteed, but it is worth a shot.

If your ds has his heart set on seeing Donald I would definately go for the restaurant that is named for him. We have had great breakfasts there (one of dh's favorite) and have been numerous times. We would go back again in a heartbeat next time we are visting AK. :)

We have had breakfast at Donald's 5 times and have loved it every time. We've been during very crowded times of year, and we've had the first PS of the day as well as later PS's, but our experiences have always been great. Maybe not as much character interaction as Garden Grill, but still plenty, and as much as we've had at any other character meal. Our service has always been very good too. And we've never waited any time to be seated. As far as the food goes, it's standard breakfast buffet food that has always been fresh, hot and well-stocked when we've been.

Donald is my younger DS's favorite character, and we continue to have breakfast at Donald's because it's the only place you are sure to see him.

Hi Mr Poohbrain. We went in 2003 in June (2nd week of June) and had a 8:30 PS. We would have gone last year but we went to the Princess Bfst in Epcot instead. We really had a good time and the characters were really funny (more so here with funny little antics than in the other character meals). Hope that helps.

Another vote for Donalds! We have gone every year for the past three, and its part of our routine now.

Great character interaction and very good service, and the foods even pretty good!

Donald has been at Chef Mickey's both times we've eaten there for dinner.

Personally, he's one of the main reasons we eat there. Although I think it's the best buffet at Disney. I've noticed Donald's becoming hard to find in the parks (Stitch is even more of a rarity).

I'm surprised at the number of positive experiences with Donalds Breakfastasaurus. We went there last month, and I was not impressed with it at all. The characters rushed through the meet & greet pretty quickly, even though we were one of the first seated that morning. And the buffet line was completely disorganized---people cutting through, lining up oddly, bumping into others. It wasn't pleasant or relaxing. :sad2:

That being said, if you are planning a day at Animal Kingdom specifically, I do recommend going there & getting the PS before the park opens for the day, only because it's extremely packed around the entrance to the park when it opens. If you eat breakfast before park opening, you're already more than halfway into the park, which will make things easier & more pleasant for your family. Plus, the safari's always best first thing in the morning, since that seems to be the one hot attraction there right now (when we were there, every ride was a walk-on except for the safari. That had a standby time of over 60 minutes by early afternoon!)

We loved Breakfastasaurus when we went a few yars ago. We did have to wait about a half hour after our Ps time to be seated. I did wonder why the waiter was bringing us hot chocolate on a day the was so hot. LOL :rotfl2:

We've been to Donald's Breakfastsaurus twice and we will be returning this year. Our family loves it. The food is basic breakfast buffet fare. Just about the same as any other breakfast buffet. They have the omlet station where you can get an omlet any way you like.

We have always received very good character interaction. Also, the wait staff that we have had, have some kind of antics going on as well.

I can't wait to go back!

We've had breakfast here 3 times in the past 5 years - never had a problem. Food was good and hot and the characters spent a good amount of time with the kids. We would not hesitate to go back. Of course, YMMV!

Thanks everyone!! You've all been so helpful. We're going to try Breakfastasaurus (or however you spell it!) ;)

I was thinking of doing CM's for a breakfast, but maybe I'll make it dinner on our first night there (he'll want to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy anyway). If Donald is there, then it will just be bonus time with "the Duck".

Hi,

Donald is usually in the meet and great area of Chef Mickey's. We do dinner there on our last night of each trip. I am not sure if he is "garenteed" to be there but he is usually there.

Donald was at CM's a couple of weeks ago for dinner. He was out front greeting . We had a great time with him.

We have eaten at Donald's a couple of times and won't return. It was both times the worst meal we had at disney.

Start with the trouble getting in (unless you are taking the bus), the cold hot buffet, the disorganized lines, the rushed characters and the food was just so so.

I'm glad that others have enjoyed this restaurant, we haven't. YMMV

We ate at LTT in January and the only fowl at the party was on a plate. I do know that Daisy and Donald have a Camper at the back of MGM. It is across the street from where you get pictures with Fantasia Mickey. In addition, you can go into any disney store at the parks or hotels between
9-5 and ask where a character is that day. They will look them up and call a hotline for you to see where they are appearing. I know this because my DD (3.5) princess: is quaisy for Daisy.

Donald and Daisy can be hard to find because their costumes require short people. We once went a whole 8 day trip and only saw the duck and Jessie (from Toy Story) once and the kids were asleep in their strollers. We have seen Donald and Daisy more the last year or two but the only place he is guaranteed is Breakfastasourus. We have been to Chef Mickeys for dinner 5x and Donald was only there 3x. If your son has his heart set on seeing Donald, Breakfastasourus is the way to go. Have fun with the duck!

I loved DONALDS!! I think it was one of the best character breakfasts we had. The Disney magic was great and the food...umm YUMM!!! We are going again in November and I am so excited. We had a 10:50 PS and it was great. No wait...just wonderful. The characters were great with both adults and kids and made for a great time! I LOVE Donald too. We found him at Chef Mickey's, but at his own breakfast he seems to fit a lot better!
