I live in Oregon and people here say Disneyland or Disney World (possibly Walt Disney World), never just Disney. We just went to DL last week with family from Vermont, and we've also been to WDW with them. They refer to the Florida parks as "Disney" and called DL "Disney California". Never heard that last one before, even here on the DIS. Got me to wondering what the geographic breakdown is. What do people call it in your neck of the woods?

Well, I live near Disneyland and it's called Disneyland, lol. That place in Florida is Disney World. What gets me is the spellings people use online. Disneyland is one word and the L is not capitalized. Disney World is two words (three if you add Walt in front). Amazing to me how many people get that wrong.
I have been known to refer to Disneyland as just Disney on my personal blog if I'm talking about what we did that weekend, but anyone reading my blog knows we live in CA and therefore don't mean Disney World.

Well, we refer to it as just Disney. We've been blessed to have visited WDW many times over the years and we just say...."well, we're heading back to Disney." I guess the the majority of people around here refer to it as Disney World. Since we live in Tennessee we are closer to WDW and that's where the majority of people go when they visit a Disney park.

Normally its just Disney - but I am in south Florida so everyone assumes you are talking about Walt Disney World. Most of the time around here you will hear Disney or Disney World - hardly ever Walt Disney World. And to make it worse I used to refer to Magic Kingdom as Disney World (not anymore) because that was the only park when I was little so it WAS Disney World.

most people I talk to will say something to the effect like, "I'm going to disneyland in florida". It gets really annoying.

That would annoy me , lol . But yeah , even in Newfoundland we refer to it as ''Disney'', most people meaning World, not Land.

Where I live, everyone says Disney. As in, "we're going to Disney," "we just got back from Disney," "I'm counting the days until our Disney trip," "I can't believe you're going back to Disney again," etc. And by this, we all mean WDW. I know a few people who have been to DL - and 1 to DLP - but not many.

I am from Oregon as well, and everyone I hear usually says Disneyland and Disney World, we don't ever say just "Disney" unless we are refering to the company as a whole.

Everyone I know here in the middle of the Pacific calls each by its proper name; Disneyland and Disney World since they are two specific places. Never heard either called anything else.

Disney or Disney World for the Florida park, Disneyland for the California park.

A lot of people around here call it Disneyland, referring to both parks :headache: . I do my best in correcting them, but it is hopeless  .

Within our family, we always refer to it as "Disney", whenever we are talking about Disney World. :thumbsup2

Texas resident checking in......

I hear all. I don't think it has anything to do with region, just more of what the person associates with Disney and their knowledge level. Those who I know who go a lot refer to "The World" or "The Land".....people say Disneyland, Disneyworld, Disney, Mouse House, etc.

We live only about 9 hours away from WDW on the East coast, so it's a very rare thing for anyone to go to Disneyland. Most people around here just say Disney, and it is assumed they mean Disney World.

I usually call it Disney- sometimes I say WDW, and sometimes I refer to it as "my second home", because I feel like it is!

I'm in CT, and my family and I just say we're going "home". ;)

If someone is living under a rock and for some reason doesn't know what we mean, then it's usually just "Disney" if we're going to WDW, or "Disneyland" if we're headed to California.
