If there's already a thread like this, please point me to it! If not, here goes...

Sometimes you can get the same thing at a Counter Service location as you can at a Table Service restaurant, only for less. If you know of something, please post it here and give all the details you can - what it is, how much it cost at TS vs CS etc. Also, tell us whether or not you've had it at both places so you can comment that it did indeed taste the same. Add a pic if you can.

I'll start:

Chocolate Flourless Cake at Starring Rolls in MGM. It appears that it might be the same thing they serve at the Brown Derby. I have only had this at Starring Rolls and not at The Brown Derby. This was as of September 2006 though. As far as I can remember, it was $2 something. At Brown Derby, according to allears, it is $8 something.

Wow, good to know.

Another one would be Tonga Toast at the Polynesian. I think it's around $8 at Kona Cafe and $4 at Capt Cooks. I haven't tried it at Capt Cooks but will in about 3 weeks.

I can tell you bottled beer and coke are different prices between resorts and parks. I believe, we were in Epcot and hubby said the same beer at one cart was more than another cart, and they weren't that far apart.
Maybe soneone needs to make a price list of those items.

This thread is a cool idea:thumbsup2

Flourless chocolate cake at The Brown Derby:

The flourless chocolate cake is not exactly the same at the Derby as it is at Starring Rolls. The Derby's version is served with chocolate decorations (plain chocolate and white chocolate with a design "painted" on it), mango sherbet and fresh strawberries.

We've only had the Tonga Toast at the Kona, so I'll be interested to hear if it's the same at Capt. Cooks.

The cake part looks the same as far as I can tell. I hope Starring Rolls still has it. Obviously you've had the one at Brown Derby. Have you had the one at Starring Rolls? Except for the different decorations and sides, did it taste the same? :)

Anyone know if the fish and chips are the same at Rose & Crown as the Yamsden place?

Quiche Lorraine and Creme Brulee - same at Chefs de France and Boulangerie Pattiserie just behind it. Vastly different plating (obviously) and no salad with the quiche, and no strawberry with the brulee. Same food, though. Much cheaper at Boulangerie. I suspect the croissant sandwich with ham and cheese is identical as well, but I've never tried it.

You can get fish and chips at Rose & Crown for $16 or at Yorkshire County Fish Shop (right next door) for $8. They may not be identical servings, but it's a good bet they come out of the same boxes. Apparently neither of them offers proper English chips, sliced thick from fresh potatoes.

Great thread idea..... Zebra domes are at mara quick service and boma buffet at AKL.

You can also get the Brown Derby's famous grapefruit cake at Starring Rolls. It's been a while since I had it, but it was a lot less than at the Brown Derby.

At The Mara (AKL) you can get two of the soups from Boma (usually Butternut Squash and a soup of the day) and Zebra Domes. I'm pretty sure the half chicken is the same as the chicken pieces offered at Boma too.

Good to know! Since I cancelled a reservation w/Brown Derby. But where is Starring Rolls? popcorn::

Anyone know if the "takeout" Cheese Soup and Pretzel bread from Le Cellier is cheaper to go?

You can get the same New England Clam Chowder at Columbia Harbour House as you can at Liberty Tree Tavern.

While I have not actually done it I am planning on trying the Tonga Toast and Dole Whips at Capt Cook's instead of paying the much bigger prices at Kona's.

I actually enjoy CS more than many TS.

No ressies needed, can do at last minute.

Cheaper prices.

No tipping required.

We eat at OUR pace rather than our servers.

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. It is a fantastic idea and will be very useful to many.

Maybe after we get enough posts we could compile a list? I will help.
