Getting ready to start planning our next trip.

We went in 2012 and stayed at POR. Had a great trip and loved the resort. I'm torn about where to stay next trip. Try something new? Or stay where we had a great time before? Our kids will be 8 & 6. Money is a factor of course, but we won't do value. We can afford deluxe, but are savers by nature. So maybe Poly or Wilderness lodge. I've read so many reviews and am just overwhelmed. I think the Beach club looks gorgeous too.
Husband wants some pool time, I know that much. Transportation from POR took awhile, but we managed just fine on the buses.

I'm not sure you can do much better than POR for a moderate. In my opinion, the next step up is a deluxe. Trying Wilderness later this year for the first time and looking forward to it. Did Poly last year and loved it. Just depends on how much you want to pay.

AKL Jambo House is just a small price jump over POR and have a lot more amenities and amazing dining . Also Fort Wilderness cabins are great, remote, beautiful, and inexpensive for what it is (except the transportation)!!

Also look at renting dvc points. You can stay at a deluxe for a fraction of the price

We really love POFQ for a Moderate. We can't really afford to go Deluxe (unless we wanted to only stay 2-3 nights and do no parks :lmao:) so we like the Mods.

Coronado Springs is very nice- it is a convention hotel, so has a few more Delux-ish amenities like salon, workout room, and upscale food court.

Maybe try a different Mod or a lower-priced Deluxe like AKL or WL- both look really nice. If you think you'll spend a lot of time at MK, WL is convenient with boat transportation.

Personally, I don't think you can make a bad choice when it comes to Disney resorts- all are beautiful in their own way. pixiedust:

I won't give you any answers, but here are some suggestions!!

1. Think about renting a DVC one or two bedroom unit. The studio is ok, but for the age of your kids, a one bedroom or two bedroom with more space will feel luxurious and comfortable at the same time. Any extra you may spend on accommodation could be made up by eating a a few meals in the room, since you will have a full kitchen (and laundry!). You will feel the difference between a moderate and any of the DVC choices. None are bad choices at all!! OKW will likely be the least number of points while BLT tends to be on the high side.

2. If you want to go straight deluxe and your DH wants pool time, then YC/BC are definitely going to be great options if available. They book quickly around Epcot festival dates given the short walk. But you cannot beat the YC/BC waterpark. It is wonderful!!!

3. For a different feel in a moderate but better pool options, I would suggest CBR. It is larger and slightly more spread out than POR (don't let the haters fool you, we have stayed in literally the furthest room from old port royale and walked there calmly in under 10 minutes. Quite pleasant. And that is as far out as possible. So thats worst case. But the main pool was fairly recently refurbished and is amazing, plus each individual island has their own quiet pool which is also a treat. The rooms are being refurbished and will eventually all have two queen beds instead of double. The room size is ever so slightly largest among the moderates as well.

You're going to Disney. You can't really go wrong :)

If pool time is a consideration, then take a look at the Beach and Yacht Clubs.

You're steps away from Epcot, and very close to DHS, Stormalong Bay, aka "the pool" is so big it has its own MAP, and it's a Deluxe that's cheaper than the Poly.

What's not to love???

I emailed our travel agent today to put our August 2014 trip on her radar. We're going back to the Beach Club!!

What park do you spend most time at?

Is being within walking distance to a park important?

Do you spend a lot of time at the resort?

You mentioned your DH wants to spend time at the pool.

If you can go deluxe I would try the BC/YC. It has a great pool, within walking distance to Epcot (5 min) and DHS (15min) and just a very beachy atmosphere. There is so much to do after the parks close as the boardwalk is right there. They have movies on the beach(I know a lot of the resorts are doing that but its right on the beach so it feels extra special...when we stay at the BW we go over to the BC to watch the movies on the beach. You can also just walk 5 min and see illumnations and be back to your room in 7 min. WS is right there for late day shopping at the countries or dinning. My DD and I love hanging out there at night and we always go to France for pastries. Your kids may also like that the agent P adv is at the countries....which is something cool to do when you just want to take it easy. You can rent bikes and boats and watch entertainers on the BW at night... And the Bw has a great community hall..a place your kids can hang out at...they have videos games, air hockey, ping pong and a nice TV with a couch...

I just love the Epcot resorts.......but the MK ones are nice too......:rolleyes1
If you spend most of your time at MK, being on the monorail is priceless....it feels so Disney.....and there are 3 deluxe hotels right there with great dining options.....feel like Ohana's or a Luau, or the hop de Doo....they are right there plus you can rent boats and explore bay lake..superfun, the kids can go on a pirate adventure from the cont...and you are a 10 min average ride from the MK via the monorail depending on each hotel.

And the rooms are so nice, most sleep 5 so the kids can have separate beds if they don't want to sleep together.

CSR gets my vote! I liked POR but after spending time at CSR last year it has become our family's new favourite :)

Kids loved the pool and play area, we actually spent more time at the resort than we have ever done on previous trips :goodvibes

POR is lovely but I'd recommend trying something new.

If you want another Mod, maybe CSR. Very nice pool area.

I'll echo others that mentioned renting points or just keep an eye out for a deal (like the recent Travelocity one) & go Deluxe. YC/BC has SAB and the location can't be beat. Boat or walk to 2 of the 4 parks (huge time saver)!

Or.. if you want a Mod price in the same area, what about Swan/Dolphin? Great pool; you will lose ME & some other 'perks' like charging purchases to your room (KTTW) & it's less Disney-fied in case those are deal breakers for you - for me the cost saving is worth it to be in that location!
