Where would you like to see a DVC resort next?

Grand Floridian. About the only place I would give up my BWV for. BLT doesn't impress me, don't like the decor.

My sister would buy in Gatlinburg, TN.

I would have been interested in the Gulf Coast until BP got its hands on it. :(
I would have liked something not so touristy like around Apalachicola, i.e., Mexico Beach.

Really though, I think there is an opportunity for Disney to make sales to residents in the mid-South, Ohio, and Indiana. Many people alternate between the mountains, the gulf coast, and Disneyworld. Some of these folks would consider buying DVC if they had an easy way to alternate between them.

I would love visit New York, but probably wouldn't buy there.

I see several mentioning areas that are closer to their homes. I think perhaps as DVC ages (we're coming up on 20 years) that people WILL be wanting to expand a bit beyond the parks. I think we already see that happening with both HHI and VB getting more use now than they did in the past. Certainly Hawaii is generating a LOT of discussion, even though it remains to be seen if people will really want to buy there enough to make it a profitable venture.

I think Jim had a GREAT suggestion in making DVC owners "real" members of the exchange company (be it RCI or II). That would make the exchange portion of our ownership as flexible as our home resort ownership....a win win in my book. One of the reasons we don't exchange is because it's such a crap shoot.

Disney is building a resort at National Harbor, but AFAIK there has been no talk of DVC other than speculation on these boards.

Selfishly, I say somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic. I think Williamsburg would be a good choice. I'd also like to see them revisit the Disney America idea and I think Williamsburg would be a perfect place, though I don't think it will ever happen, unless Disney buys Busch Gardens and completely guts it.

I agree with this as well. I remember when they were first talking about this and thought Disney would do a great job of creating interest in American History. I was pretty disappointed when they cancelled their plans.

I agree with a few others here. Sell what you have now. Enough is enough. I'm starting to think DVC is getting too big. We were one for the first to buy SSR and at the time DVC felt like something special. Maybe SSR was the end of the good times. They turned The Disney Institute into SSR, then they added the Treehouse Villas. Kind of feels like "Let's take any under-utilized building on the property and turn it into a DVC resort." I just get the feeling now that DVC is just like any other timeshare. Definitely not what I want to be part of.

That is a tough question, I wouldn't want to see the market over saturated, but, in a good economy, I could see DVC being very successful. I like the idea of Martha's Vineyard, Colorado, New Orleans? What about Las Vegas? That could be intersting. :3dglasses

I would love to see a DVC in Colorado, I know Disney actually planned a Ski Resort. Somewhere near a lake at the foot of a mountain. Not Tahoe though. To saturated. Maybe they create their own resort complete with lodge, entertainment, restaurants, and DD. :) That would be so awesome.

I think most places, Colorado included ;), would have limited appeal and likely would have a hard time in the off seasons (for that particular location). Las vegas would be the most "Disney-like" in imagination and spectacle, but I don't know if Disney wants to be associated with "Sin City"  :lmao:

I knew it!! Soon or later there will be people who spoil the fun of this thread and go off topic.
The OP was asking us for blue sky wish list just for fun ideas..but NO... nay nay nay..
Lighten up, people!

I think "no where" is a viable option to the question posed, and if you look at it, the DVC already offers us almost any area of the world we would like to visit, which is a viable answer to the question as well. N'est pas? :)

Plus, I think reviewing the economic impact to our slice of heaven by adding more resorts is just as important a consideration as other people's desire to be near a beach, the mountains, or other place. :confused3 :)

Diane,

Years ago, we booked RCI Getaway weeks into Canmore, BC. Canmore is a cute little town just outside Banff Park gates and often used by filming crews. We loved it! Spent 10 days exploring Banff, Lake Louise, Radium Hot Springs, and Panorama. We were there in winter enjoying snow shoeing, ice walking, snowmobiling, both downhill and cross-country skiing and soaking in the hot springs. What a really great area!

Worldmark has a new'ish resort in that area -- you might want to give it a try?
We stayed for a week last Summer in Radium Hot Springs and absolutely loved it. We stayed at Bighorn Meadows (traded out part of my in-laws Marriott Silver Season lock-off) in a 2 Bdrm, and quite honestly, I think that it was nicer than many Marriott's that I've stayed in. I'd highly recommend the place, of course, it's II though...

1. I would like to see DVC rooms added at the Disneyland Hotel (now that they're going through a renovation) and the Paradise Pier Hotel. With the newly expanding DCA, it would be nice to have more DVC rooms available in addition to the few they have at VGC.

2. NYC

I guess I'm the only one who would want a new one at WDW. It's just so convenient for us to get there by plane, then use ME. Has anyone researched flights to Hawaii, Canada, Cape Cod or the Caribbean? Unless you live in an airline hub city, they can be so expensive and be very long travel days with connections, etc... (of course orlando can be for some folks too.)

I would just like to have a new one with some incredible new theming. Not sure what it would be, but we've been pretty pleased with what they've done so far.

you're not alone.

as soon as i saw this thread, my first thought was inside the

new & 5th park. marvel~land & the disney's flop house....

...forgotten movies, like the great mouse detective, oliver &

company, so forth. :hippie:
