Where would you go and why?

I would have to say Hawaii. Probably visit two or three Islands. I have been there a few times but have never taken the kids. If I was there for 4-6 weeks I don't know if I would get on the plane to come back.

Freyja: I think I remember you saying that you have done home exchanges in the past? Would you mind me asking which agency you have used?

Now you have me planning a trip!! LOL!!!:goodvibes
Not sure when it will happen, but next summer sounds pretty good!!

We haven´t done an exchange yet. We were in the beginning stages of planning a possible exchange with a family in Namibia, but they backed out of it (which was actually fine with us, since flight prices were insane for all of us). This Barcelona exchange will be the first actual home exchange and we have already signed the agreement forms. We´re listed on Home Exchange (the website says just that + .com) ;)

If you or the kids have not been, I would definitely do Hawaii. Second, I would choose Cuba while it still has its culture. I think it will change greatly, soon. My next choices would be South America, Africa, and finally, Australia.

I too believe that very soon Cuba will change and I´d love to be able to go there and experience it as it is now, and then again later.

I think I would visit Iceland, I've heard it's an amazing place.....oh, wait I guess that's not going to work for you is it :goodvibes

DH and I would love to travel New Zealand by motorcycle.
or
The Whiskey Trail in Scotland and then a tour of the great houses in England and a few days at the British Museum in London (thats's more me than him, he says he will wait for me at the pub)
or
A 6 week museum and art gallery trek through Europe.
or
A tall ship cruise through the Caribbean

Iceland is a beautiful country and I recommend it to everyone! :goodvibes

There are 2 places I want to go before I die (hopefully I don't die for a long time cause I don't have much money to travel these places yet!)

Japan - I want to see the country, shop in Tokyo and def. do Tokyo Disneyland!!

China - I am bummed - the Chinese language class I am taking this winter is taking a study-abroad trip this summer but I know I won't have enough time to get off work and don't have the money yet - but for just around $3000 you take a 3-wk trip around China (cost includes flights, hotel stays and most meals) and get college credit for it... I've talked with my prof. and hopefully in 2 yrs when he does the trip again I will be able to!!

If you're going to go all the way to Australia or Hawaii, I would highly recommend adding French Polynesia. I went there on my honeymoon. It's absolutely gorgeous.

I would love to visit Japan too. I´m hoping DH and I can go on an adults only trip there sometime in the future ;)

China is a great country to travel in. DH and I went there in ´97 (a lot has changed since then). We went to Beijing, Xi´ian, Kunming and Xi Shuan Ban Na and it was wonderful!!! I´d love to go back some day and visit other parts of the country.

The trip I always wanted to do was to cycle Tuscany and I got to go and do that with a friend in 2008. If I were to have 2 months though I would spend it on an active tour of Europe.

I'd start in Norway with mountain biking and kayaking the fjords. Make it through central Europe seeing the major cities along with some time either hiking in the country, cycling some of the major Tour de France routes, rowing some of the rivers, swimming in the Austrian lake region, stuff like that. I'd have to figure out the exact route but the it would probably go southeast through the heart of Europe stopping in Turkey. If there was time I would make the flight down to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro as the last thing I did before heading home.

My parents and I took a trip across the country about 15 years ago. We had the best time! We were able to spend so much time with eachother. My father is no longer with us, but I have so many memories of him from that experience! One of the most amazing was the Grand Canyon. Our country has so much to offer!

I would like to see the states we did not cover, but my dream is to go to Paris, France! The closet I have gotten to that is the Eiffel Tower in EPCOT!!!

Coast to Coast America

Colonial Williamsburg

Outer Banks-North carolina
Then go west....to America's Grandest "abode"-Biltmore in Asheville NC

Smokey mountains

Caverns in Arkansas

Carlsbad Caverns New mexico

Painted Desert

Cliff Dwellings

Grand Canyon

Yosemite National Park

California Coast

Out of your choices I'd probably go with Australia. You could also visit New Zealand and maybe a few Polynesian Islands.

This has me dreaming about visiting Europe again. I would fly to Amsterdam and revisit favorites there. Then I'd want to go into Switzerland and ride the train through the Alps. Then I'd go to Tuscany and rent a villa and explore much of Italy particularly Pompeii and Herculaneum and the surrounding areas. Then I'd somehow get to Majorca and spend some time there. Great Britain is high on my list too but that deserves its own trip. :)
