Where would you eat after your wedding, out of these choices?

We are having a small wedding at Disney in December, just us and eight others. Which of these places would you eat at? Please help me decide, and be aware that I will be wearing a wedding dress with a very full skirt!

PS - Please notice I left V & A's off the list...as nice as I've heard it is, and appropriate for a wedding, it's just out of our price range!

I've only eaten at the YSH and I would say choose something else. IMHO, the quality is not where it was a few years ago.

I would look into booking the "Wine Room" at the California Grille. It is a separate, private dining room.

California Grill is wonderful. So are all the others, but I think the view you can get from CG makes it even more worthwhile.

Either Citrico's or Cali Grill would be great spots.

While I love the food and atmosphere of AP I would have to say go with the CG. The view is amazing and hopefully there will be fireworks that evening and IMHO that would be a great way to end a wedding!

hi, and congratulations!

i would have dinner at the california grill. try and book the "wine room" more intimate. i love artist point but i definitely would pict cal grill. points, more festive atmosphere, up on the 16th floor of the contemporary, you get a view of the castle and if you can swing it try and book so you can view the fireworks (what could be more romantic). good luck and smiles to you.

Citrico's.

One thing I'd like to point out is that you should ask opeinions of people who have eaten at all four of these restaurants, not just one or two. That way it will be less biased.

Also, you don't mention where you are getting married--that might play into it.

I have eaten at all four. All but AP I've eaten at at least three times, so I have a good sampling.

Pro's and Co'ns of each:

AP--We had lousy service and I had bad food. I woulsn't suggest it. Another con is that lots of people will show up in park attire, kind of ruins the atmosphere. Yuck. It is a nice room, but maybe a bit "casual" feeling for a wedding party.

CG--Can be OVERRUN with kids! it's also LOUD. The wine room is quieter, but you won't be seated alone in it--there will be other parties. Although there is a dress code, it's usually violated and they don't enforce it. You can't see the fireworks from the wine room. The pro's are excellent food and generally very good service, and a wonderful wine list.

Yachstmans. In one word, NO. The service, the food, the atmosphere has gone from being at one point one of WDW's finest to below average. It's not even on our short list. In fact I'd rather go to the Kona Cafe. The service is better, the food is better and cheaper.

Citrico's. This is as close to V&A's as you can get for a lot less money. The food is scrumptious, served in a graceful and refined setting. There are seldom children (I think it's the only WDW fine dining establishment that we haven't been disturbed by an unruly child at), most people tend to dres up a bit to dine there, it's gracious, relaxing, elegant. It would be a perfect setting. Service is impeccable (better than V&A's IMHO!) and I can't think of a better place to celebrate! There are MK fireworks views from a few windows.

Also if you re getting married at the wedding chapel it's a quick and easy walk over to Citrico's.

I would say the converse of ducklite. The night I was at Citrico's it was loud, and the service was sloooowwwww. I was unimpressed.

I have eaten 2x at CG, and loved both times. It's all about the view, I think. The later you make your reservation, the better chance you have of fewer children. But frankly, that is a risk at every single restaurant on property except V&A.

Oh, and I have eaten at all except AP. I've seen too many bad reviews to waste my $$. I hope my opinion still counts.

My advice, though, is to call WDW-DINE, explain what you're doing, and see if they can't help you with your special arrangements.

I chose Artist Point because it is quieter and less busy. It will be more personal for your group. Also, you can take some wonderful photos on the resort property!

Thank you for all of your advice. This is a very difficult decision, so I am taking my time (though I better not take too much, right?)

We are having the ceremony at the Wilderness Lodge, which makes AP the logical logistical choice. But I worry about it being to casual and looking funny in a wedding gown there.

CItricos seems to be a happy medium. They have a private room too, for about 12 guests (perfect size) and a minimum expenditure of $650 (or so.) So far, I think this is my top choice. I'm okay w/ folks congratulating us and pointing as we walk by, but I'd rather not be a focal point while we try to eat.

Now, CG, I've heard great things about. I had heard they have 2 private rooms, the Napa and Sonoma rooms. However, they are larger than the one at Citricos, and, therefore cost more, like a $2,000 minimum or something. Are these two rooms the same as the "wine room" someone referred to?

That leaves the YS, which have a semi-private alcove. I have also heard from a few past brides who used it and were happy. However, I can't justify travelling that far (in comparison to the others) for a place which may just be "marginal" in quality/service, at least compared to the other restaurants.

So, I will ponder this a little more. Please feel free to offer more advice.

I would see if WDW can arrange for a private launch from WL to the GF for your party (I'm sure they will make this happen for you!)

One other idea--not sure if it's in your range, but it was an INCREDIBLE experience...what about private dining on the Grand 1 Yacht?

The Grand 1 would be very cool, but I have heard that it only fits seven adults comfortable...we will have a group of ten. So, as neat as that option is, I think it is out.

Ah--the OLD Grand One was smaller. When was the last time you got info on it? We were just on it in March, and I think ten would have been fine.

I vote for Citrico's. DH and I celebrated our anniversary there last November and it was incredible. The service was impeccable and the food was close to spectacular.

On a side note... as a bride, expect people to look at you. There is something fascinating about a bride, and you'll be no different! Whenever I see a bride, I'm reminded of my own wedding day and all the wonderful things about it. I think most people can just feel your excitement. It's a great time to be noticed.

I have eaten at all of these restaurants abd I voted for California Grill - I had an intimate wedding at WDW too, and that is where we had our dinner. It was wonderful, because right before we had dinner the MK fireworks went off and we all went out to the observation deck to watch.

By the way - you should expect people to look at you. Little girls will think you are a princess, and people will congratulate you. It was fun!

I've never been to California Grill (we're going in Jan. though,
but DH and I went to Artist Point on our wedding night and we were thrilled with everything. We did an intimate at the WP, then tea at the GF with everyone, later that night just DH and I went to AP after going to the parks, so we didn't have formal attire on or anything, so I couldn't comment on moving around in a poufy dress. Oh wow! I have tags!

I don't mind at all if people look at us...In fact, I look forward to that...but I would like to just focus on our guests during dinner. I remember one bride who went to CG, and all during their meal, people were doing something to signal them to kiss...I forget if it was clinking their glasses or what, but something like that...anyway, that would drive me crazy, after about the third time.

Ducklite, I think I read something about the Grand One back in March, when I first got this crazy idea. I did not get the info from Disney, but from a website which seemed reliable...likely out of date, I realize now. Did you do the Grand One on your own, with your group? Or were there other people with you (i.e., strangers?) If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?
