All BWV- STUDIOS now are without refrigerators- Only COOLERS?

I will just add this to my list of things that MS agents have been completely wrong about.
Yes- I hope you are right. I contacted Member Services again a few minutes ago and they said that ONLY THE HOTEL SIDE has beverage coolers instead of refrigerators. That the Villas all have refrigerators. (as they should) I hope this MS rep knows what he is talking about. Based on what people are posting on this thread I suspect "Krystal" needs some additional training.

Glad you got clarification.

It won’t be first time and certainly not the last time frontline CM’s provides wrong information.

Cant tell you how many times chat has given us wrong information... see thread about commercial renting 🤣🤣 Their latest mistake also resulted in Disney refunding me OTUP purchased earlier this year 😑 Best to call

My understanding was DVC acquiesced to the community and replaced the resort view VGF beverage coolers with refrigerators.

But maybe I am mistaken?

The resort studios at VGF have mini fridges. They simply don't have a freezer compartment. But they are true refrigerators.

I will debunk this myth to the ends of the world - almost as vehemently as I debunk the "most people only keep their contracts for 8 years" myth.

If you are in a DVC room you should expect a refrigerator of some description, not a cooler. If you receive a cooler, call the front desk and ask for a replacement. Even the broom closets - I mean tower studios - at Riviera have small dorm refrigerators, not beverage coolers.

When I worked in customer service I was trained to say, "I don't know but I will find out, hang on"

For some reason Disney has trained its cast members they have to have an answer - even if it's a wrong answer - when guests ask something. There is nothing wrong in my mind with saying "I don't know, but if you don't mind holding for a moment I will find out"

Yes, when Big Pine Key first opened the resort studios had the black beverage cooler like cash rooms and no microwave.

Now VGF resort studios are equipped with a mini fridge and a microwave.

This is the mini fridge:

And to me they work better than the mini fridges with a freezer compartment. Especially better than the small dorm fridge in the tower studios at riviera. That thing froze my milk solid lol.

Unfortunately that is not entirely correct.

The VGF resort studios have a beverage cooler, or beverage center as they call it. The Deluxe studios has a mini fridge.

This is the customer service standard where I work, if you do not know an answer you have to use MS teams to find another person who knows the answer while on the call with the customer. I even have standing teams chats where our CS team can reach me for areas where I specialize. This is not just for our front line technical services, every customer facing employee has to meet this standard.

On my MS call this week attempting to reserve Wicked wind down they did just that and were able to find out why a date was not available, so the better MS reps seem to do the same.

You are correct that it shows beverage center (weird name for a beverage cooler, thought it was the area where you make coffee). PolyRob is correct that they had beverage coolers when opened, but have (I believe) fully transitioned over to mini fridges after it was pointed out to them repeatedly in the contract.

Yes, after all the complaints about beverage coolers and requests for microwaves they were updated. I think DVC said the microwaves were backordered or something like that which is a nice cover. 🤣

Not sure why the website doesn't reflect the change. Maybe "beverage center" encompasses a beverage cooler and/or mini fridge so DVC keeps it vague on purpose.

Not to beat a dead horse or monopolize a BWV thread, but this was from a room tour when Big Pine Key first opened in 2022:

(WDWNT called it a mini fridge when it clearly has a beverage cooler notice on it. This is what is in all the cash rooms across property post-refurb now)

This is from a more recent YouTube video tour:

That's why I included the specs to the actual silver Danby model. I've never seen this unit used anywhere besides Big Pine Key at WDW. The temperature control is on the back and it has the fan inside to circulate the air as a mini fridge with temps ranging from 32°F to 50°F.

Do we have any actual confirmation that they updated them to fridges? With confirmation i don’t mean a phone CM claiming something. CM’s are notoriously known for providing inaccurate information. That’s why I trust members more than CM’s

Could also be that they only updated them in some rooms?

I don't have official communication from DVC, but I have seen other reports online since Big Pine Key has opened on top of firsthand experience. I believe a lot of guests confuse that square silver mini-fridge with a beverage cooler and use the terms interchangeably. The temperature dial is hidden on the back of the silver Danby unit so most guests don't realize you can pull it out, turn the temp down, and have your mini-fridge temps.

Microwaves have also been added to every resort studio, but they are not in the sample images online nor are they listed in the room description you shared. They 100% exist on the top shelf of the "beverage center" with a silly wire hanging down since they weren't in the original plans and there is no outlet on the shelf. No official DVC communication on that either, but it is 100% accurate.

It also seems like MS is completely incorrect in a lot of these situations.

We talked to a resort management CM when we stayed at VGF in February 2024 (just by chance) and this was during the changeover. She was very happy that this was happening and explained that they did it only on days when maintenance had enough time to get in room on change over days. To me this was confirmation that it was happening. Could they have missed single rooms? Possible.
