Where? Where? Where to buy????

I am sooo excited that my DH and I have decided to buy into DVC! For the past week I seem to be obsessing about which resort to buy at. I am stuck between really wanting to stay at BLT....but we could only afford a smaller contract at resale. The other possibility would be to buy points at OKW through Disney and then add on points later. I am leaning toward OKW because it would be the extended contract and the points cost so much less. I am getting stuck between a higher point cost to have a home resort that I want, versus having more points and more vacation days. ahhhhh....so many choices!

We just did Direct through Disney for OKW. I think once the excitment over BLT dies down you will be able to get there at the 7 mth mark. We love OKW for the away from it all feeling. Yes it is nice to be able to walk to the park but it is only one park you will have close to you. The drive from OKW to the other 3 parks is minimal. Which ever home resort you choose make sure you will be happy to stay their if you can't find anything else at the 7 month window. For us that is OKW!

In my opinion if you make your reservations more than 7 months in advance than you need to buy at the resort you like best as will be on the only place you can stay.

In my opinion if you make your reservations less than 7 months in advance than you should choose to own at Saratoga Springs via resale. It currently has the lowest cost of ownership (assuming you will own for at least 10 years).

Remember when you make a reservation less than 7 months in advance it doesn't matter where you own.

This is exactly why we choose a resale SSR contract. The dues are cheaper than all the other resorts, except BLT, also.

Thank you sooo much for all of the input! I am getting closer to deciding. I am expecting a call from my guide tommorrow and hope to have a decision by the end of the day!

I went back and forth and made myself sick over this decision. Finally I went with what my heart was telling me. There are a lot of things to consider and if you are not dead set on BLT the savings somewhere else may be worth it! Good luck!

We bought in last year at BLT because we knew we would be disappointed if we were not able to stay here during our stays.

We started out buying a small resale VWL contract with the plan of just adding on at BLT with a smaller amount of points. We did and then realized that we just wanted BLT and sold VWL.

If you are okay with knowing that you might not get exactly what you want at BLT every single time since you have to wait until 7 months to book, then I say start with OKW and go from there.
