I was up at Rainbow Lake in East Otto, NY (a VERY small rural town) camping with my grandparents and uncles. I recall riding in a canoe during the fireworks that evening and feeling pretty darned patriotic for an 11 year old kid.:D

Where were you on that historic day?

I was in Merced, California and I remember our friend's cat had kittens that day and I got pick of the litter! (I was 11 too!)

I was a sexy 16 yr old punk, watching tv at home

What was a sexy 16 year old punk watching? Charlie's Angels?

I was too young to know. I remember horses and having my picture taken in a covered wagon, but that's about it. Knowing my mom, there was probably some country music going on too!

My husband and I had our first date that night. Went to the movies to see All the President's Men.

they had a bunch of biccential fireworks on tv from ny

Don't remember doing anything special that day, we had a local fireworks display every year and I'm sure we went.

Made my first WDW trip that summer, we also spent a day in DC. :)

Disney celebrated with the America on Parade, there are some great pictures of what WDW was like then here

I had just graduated high school a few weeks before. I was probably in the local town park watching the fireworks and drinking a few beers with my friends.

I was at my Aunt's Condo in Arlington, Virginia. She is on the ninth floor and we had a great view of the Washington Monument for the fireworks.

I was laying on the beach in Wildwood NJ on a quilt with my boyfriend, watching the fireworks, thinking we were the only two people in the world. :D

:confused3 I don't remember but I was probably at home.

That year there was a "push" to get all men to grow beards for the Bi-Centenial.

My DH(then boyfriend) grew one(he had just a mustache before)....and hasn't shaved it off yet! :earseek: :hyper:

I was almost 4 months old and in my crib!;) :wave2:

I was an 11 year old kid in NYC watching the fireworks over the Hudson River with my parents.

Hey, does anyone remember the bicentennial quarters they had circulated back then?
