Park Fare 1900 - Grand Floridian - Breakfast - A grade
This is one of my favorite characer buffets. Not necessarily for the characters but for the food. There was a good varity of food including cook to order omelets which were good. They had eggs, bacon, sausage, fruits of all kinds, yogurt, toast, some desserts, too. They also had ham and a kids bar that had mickey waffles and assorted breakfast foods. Danish were also on the buffet line. My favorite was the bread pudding with vanilla sauce. I would pay the price just to go eat that. The service was good. The server was right there to pick up dirty plates and refill drinks. We didn't have any issues here. One thing for everyone to be aware of is that this is restaurant is very noisy and you sit pretty close to one another. The characters were good. Nothing spectacular. Visited tables and then moved on.
Sci-Fi Diner - MGM - Lunch - D-
The food here was probably the worst that we had while at Disney this year. DH and I had hamburgers. There were dry and luke warm. My DS had chicken nuggets which were the worst we had while a disney. They were harder than normal, luke warm. The fries were lukewarm, too. We had pop to drink. My DS7 liked the movies. We sat in the back at a table which worked great for us. My DH was offended when the waiter asked us to write our drink orders on his order form. Our server also took quite a bit of time to come back with refills. The service and food here were below our expectations and what we remembered from 9 years ago. The atmosphere though was nice. We had a chance to explain to our DS the "drive in" movie concept. If we ever go back again we will go in mid-afternoon for ice cream only.
The Land - Epcot - New Food Court - C
The new decor is really nice. It is pleasant and we liked it. The new arrangement for the food court is nice, also. We had snacks here which we typical. We also had the Asian food. I had a side of rice which is the sticky white rice. I used to live in Hawaii and loved this type of rice so I was in heaven. My DS7 had the kids noodles and it was rather bland. We wouldn't order it again. There were other offerings though that looked okay but we didn't venture to try them after a mediocre first shot at it. Several people were commenting that they liked the new food court and its offerings.
Cosmic Rays - Magic Kingdom - A
We have always liked the "fast food" here. We had burgers, chicken and mini corndogs. It was hot and cooked how it should have been. We really like the food bar that goes along with it. It had tomatoes, cooked mushrooms, lettuce, and a bunch of other things that I can't remember. It had a nice assortment of add ons. It is much quieter out of the main room where Cosmic Ray is playing but we always enjoy listening to Cosmic Ray even at midnight when he is congratulating the newlyweds and we are the only ones there ... (married 25 years now).
Cape May - Beach Club - Dinner Buffet - B
We had not been here for about 4 years. I was disappointed with the desserts. I remembered them as being spectacular and it seems that they have really cut down on the quality as well as the variety. Now, on to the other stuff. The salad bar is okay. Not a lot of add ons to put on the lettuce but a few. There are also some salads but didn't find anything that was worth mentioning. My son liked the chicken nuggets, again ... a good staple but was disappointed in the mac and cheese -- it was just lukewarm and tasted a little burnt. The potatoes here were great. I had lots of the those as I am not a meat eater. The vegetables were also good. My DH really enjoyed the seafood eating lots and lots of clams. Overall it was a good buffet but not quite as wonderful as I remembered it. We would return.
Yacht Club Galley - Thanksgiving - A
The food here was excellent. The turkey moist and very good. My DH said the other meats were good, too. They had all the traditional thanksgiving food but nothing else. For some reason I was thinking it would be more extensive but it was not. Everything, though, had excellent taste for a buffet. We would definitely do this again on Thanksgiving.
POFQ Food Court - B
This is a nice, smaller food court, but it can get crowded. If you want pancakes it can take quite a bit of time to get them cooked. We had the biscuits and gravy...they were good. Pancakes and Choc Chip Pancakes -- yummy when hot ... remember to heat your syrup in the microwave .. that helps. Oatmeal - which was runny. The Beignets -- which had too much powdered sugar on them for us but were good. Pizza which was just okay but nothing spectacular. Didn't eat dinner or lunch here so can't comment on that food. The cookies and deserts were not as good as previous years. Cookies were hard and muffins a tad dry for us. Getting through the line to pay was not always pretty but since we had Disney Dining Experience the 20% off was great.
