We just returned from a wonderful spring break trip. Here are reviews of where we ate. Please post any questions and I will try to answer. We were in the world from 31 March - 10 April. We are a family of 3 (DH, DD age 8, and myself). We eat out frequently at home. DD enjoys foods from different cuisines. We were on the silver plan (but would have eaten at these locations regardless). I have divided reviews into breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Whispering Canyon Breakfast (twice) - both meals were very good. We ate on arrival day for a late breakfast - almost no antics were going on. Last day breakfast at 9am we got to enjoy all the "happenings" in the canyon courtesy of Deputy Diane. The 19 bottles of ketchup were a riot. The food was good (skillets and a ham and cheese omelet) - service was better the second time. We would eat here again.
Kona Café Breakfast We decided that on this trip we had to try the famous Tonga Toast. We ordered a Tonga Toast, a Big Kahuna, and the kids Mickey Cake which we all shared. The Tonga Toast was very good (too sweet for an entire meal). We all enjoyed sharing our little buffet. DH (the coffee drinker) enjoyed his pressed pot. The kids pancakes are a very generous serving. We could not finish it all in the end. The service was very good. We would do this again.
Beach Club - Breakfast Much better experience than dinner. The buffet was well stocked and fresh. The egg casserole (cheese, ham) was very good. We were expecting omelets but they were not offered. The waffles and French toast sticks were hot and fresh. DD enjoyed the krispy kreme donut. Service was a little lacking (had to request milk 3 times and water twice). The character costumes were terrific (I loved the tail holes for Chip and Dale). We saw all the characters at least twice. Minnie was not present that morning (Goofy, Chip, Dale). Would possibly do again (this and 1900 Park Fare are breakfast buffets we have enjoyed the most)
Ohana - Breakfast DD and I did this while her father enjoyed his birthday present (Richard Petty Driving Experience). We loved the character costumes (especially Goofy and Mickey). The bread they give you to start with is excellent. The food in the skillet was standard breakfast fare (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes). In addition to Goofy and Mickey, Chip and Dale were also present for signatures/pictures. The maraca parade was a lot of fun. We had a wonderful table by the window (great view of the castle). Not my first choice for a breakfast character meal since the food was okay and the same characters are easily seen elsewhere.
Princess Storybook Breakfast We loved this breakfast last year. This year it was as enjoyable. The food started with wonderful cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. We were then served eggs, bacon, sausage, and the potato casserole. Unlike last year there werent any French toast sticks. The character interaction at this breakfast is wonderful. We saw Snow White, Mulan, Belle, Jasmine, and Auora in pink. We will try to do this breakfast again.
CRT Breakfast This was the once meal I was a little hesitant about repeating from last year. I am so glad we were able to try again. The meal started with fresh fruit and a bread assortment (no yogurt like last year). The food is still served pre-plated. It consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and the stuffed French toast adults or French toast sticks - kids. This time our server was excellent. She was happy to bring DD some of the adult meal instead of the kids meal our experience last year was I committed a Disney Crime by sharing the adult French toast with a child. The characters were wonderful (Cinderella, Snow White, Auora in pink, Mary Poppins, Belle, and the Fairy Godmother in the lobby). The characters are also on a very definite schedule no time for extra talking or excessive pictures. A much better experience than last year.
